Demeetra AgBio is seeking a motivated Scientist to join its Cell systems team to participate in the optimization of gene editing enzymes in therapeutics and industrial biomanufacturing organisms to produce high value molecules. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to plan and execute high quality, creative scientific work independently as well as in collaboration with others.

We are looking for candidates with in-depth knowledge of genetic engineering of various types of industrial organisms from mammalian cells to fungal cells. Knowledge and hands-on experience in synthetic biology and/or gene editing techniques are required. The successful candidate will preferably have strong molecular biology skills and practical experience using various genetic editing tools and techniques. Industrial or academic experience and familiarity with analytical processes, high-through-put workflows, and biological cell characterization is desirable.

Requirements:

• PhD in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Microbial Physiology, Synthetic Biology, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry or related discipline with 2-3 years of academic or industrial experience.
• First or Co Authorship in a peer-reviewed journal article that features genetic engineering.
• Experience in cell engineering using various techniques.
• Knowledge of using CRISPR for genetic modification is a plus.
• Experience in cell culture and downstream analysis is desired.
• Proficiency with vector cloning and using molecular biology software.
• Must be able to perform daily functions independently with little to no instructions on. routine work, and with general instructions on new assignments.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Able to organize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously to meet deadlines and excel in a fast-paced start-up environment.
• Demonstrated success on working productively both independently and within in a team.
• Able to work on site Monday-Friday with ability to work on weekends if necessary.
• Able to travel as required.
