Job Summary We are looking for a experienced food expeditor to help keep a smooth workflow between the kitchen and guest tables. You will work in a fast-paced environment to get proper orders out faster and more efficiently. The expeditor will be responsible for ensuring all food items are plated and take-out orders are packaged according to company standards and quality and according to customer orders. Expeditors must be organized and efficient while remaining professional, polite, and must be able to effectively work high volume peak lunch/dinner times. Assist back and front of house during slow shift periods. As food expeditor, you must have excellent communication skills and experience in a restaurant’s hectic setting.
Responsibilities:
Must have an in-depth knowledge of all menu items
Must know how all food items are plated according to company standards and quality (including correct garnish)
Effectively read and communicate tickets to ensure food is prepared in a timely manner
Confirm proper packaging and completeness of all to-go orders
Maintain all safety and sanitation protocols throughout shift
Maintain food storage, labeling, and rotating of all food items
Able to work closely and communicate with the back of the house and front of the house teams in a constant high pace environment
Follow and adhere to company policies at all times
Maintain performance standards and motivates team through positive role modeling
Maintain and operate kitchen equipment safely
Communicate servers' food orders and service requests in an accurate and timely manner
Must have enough stamina to be in constant motion and skills to coordinate and organize processes.
Interact with all kitchen staff and other employees to ensure smooth operation and guest satisfaction
Identify food that is incorrect and remedy the problem before it is sent to the guest.
Pull foods in order of tickets from servers
Know the table numbers in the restaurant, and be prepared to deliver food to dine-in guests
Be aware of time; keep tabs on how long items have been in the window or on the screen display; find out why orders have not been completed timely
Stock and rotate all needed supplies in the Expo area
Comply with all local health, sanitation, and safety guidelines
Other related duties as directed by management
Qualifications :
Proven experience as food expeditor or other restaurant position
Understanding of health and safety rules in a restaurant
Dexterity in using kitchen equipment or utensils and carry heavy trays
Well-organized and ability to lead and direct people
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Displays keys attributes at all times, i.e., team player, positive attitude, trustworthy, hardworking, organized and punctual.
Outstanding coordination and multi-tasking abilities
A customer-oriented approach
Great physical endurance
High school diploma; Higher degree in hospitality or relevant experience required
Must be able to reach, bend, and stoop
Food handling certification may be required according to legal regulations
