Job Title: Academy Lead

Location: Kansas City, Missouri Juvenile Detention Center

Reports to: DeLaSalle Executive Director or designee

Overview of Job Description: Kintsugi Academy seeks a dedicated academy lead to join our transformative
educational program. Kintsugi Academy is committed to providing juvenile detainees
with a unique, non-traditional educational experience that fosters personal growth,
learning resilience, and the development of vital life skills. Our mission is to ensure that
every student emerges from our program with a stronger sense of self, equipped with
knowledge and skills to navigate their futures positively.

Key Responsibilities:

Staff Oversight: Monitor and support teaching staff to ensure the delivery of
high-quality educational content and adherence to Kintsugi Academy’s
pedagogical standards.

Problem Resolution: Address opportunities and challenges shared by detention
center staff, acting as a mediator to implement effective solutions.

Student Assignment: Assign students to online learning platform, tailoring
educational paths to individual needs and goals.

Schedule Management: Manage, monitor, and revise the Master Class Schedule
as needed, ensuring optimal learning environments and resource allocation.

Student Population Management: Collaborate with DeLaSalle Education Center
staff to manage the student population sheet, ensuring accurate and up-to-date
student records.

School Records Support: Support DeLaSalle staff in acquiring school records for
juveniles, which may include traveling to schools and fostering relationships with
registrars and administrative staff to expedite record transfers.

Behavior Management Meetings: Attend and contribute to student behavior
management meetings, advocating for educational strategies that support
behavioral improvement.

Individual Academic Plans: Oversee the development and monitoring of
Individual Academic Plans for each student, ensuring personalized and effective
educational trajectories.

Policy Application: Apply school policy where necessary to maintain a safe,
respectful, and conducive learning environment.

Liaison Work: Serve as a liaison between juvenile detention staff, DeLaSalle High
School and any 3rd party agencies with the JDC, facilitating communication and
collaboration across organizations to enhance student support and success.

Additional Duties: Perform other related duties as required, adapting to the
evolving needs of Kintsugi Academy and its student.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, or a related field; Master’s degree in
school administration or Business Leadership preferred. Experience working within juvenile justice systems, alternative education
settings, adolescent mental health care or similar environments. Strong understanding of the challenges faced by detained youth and a passion
for providing transformative educational opportunities. Excellent communication (written) and interpersonal skills with the ability to build
relationships across diverse groups. Proven ability to manage complex schedules and administrative tasks. Familiarity with Edgenuity or a similar online learning platforms. Ability to travel locally to fulfill job responsibilities. Strong problem-solving skills and the capacity to address behavioral and educational challenges creatively and effectively. Ability to manage and develop partnerships with outside and community
organizations. Commitment to the principles of restorative justice and education equity.

Working Conditions:The Kintsugi Academy Administrator will work in both office and detention center
environments and must be prepared to travel to local schools as needed. This position
requires flexibility, including occasional evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of
the program and its students.
