Crop Consultant
The Crop Consultant position is responsible for actively selling Deerpoint Group products and services to new and existing customers. The Crop Consultant will develop relationships with growers (both current customers and potential customers) in their respective territories to provide innovative solutions relating to nutrient needs. This position will prospect, present and close new sales opportunities. The Crop Consultant will create nutritional and fertility recommendations based off visual observations and soil or tissue analysis. This position will meet frequently with growers to preserve a close and prosperous relationship for DPG and the growers.
This position is expected to drive lead management through networking and creative and effective prospecting.
  • Identify, qualify and develop new business opportunities.
  • Build effective relationships with prospects.
  • Effectively present solutions to customers and close on new business.
  • Effectively manage pipeline and distribute customer information as needed.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to increase sales of DPG products.
  • Meet sales expectations set forth by the company.
  • Actively monitor competitive activity and trends, as well as industry trends and needs.
  • Foster a strong relationship with Deerpoint Group customers to exceed business goals.
  • Consult with growers on crop health and fertility issues, and prescribe effective solutions and fertility recommendations.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of all of DPG’s programs, products and capabilities.
  • Write and conduct with the customer, technical reports (soil and tissue) and business reviews as appropriate.
  • Analyze credit risk of customers and propose appropriate credit limits for customer management.
  • Effectively utilize Salesforce.com to gather and utilize customer info / needs for sales opportunities.
What you will need:
  • Minimum of 2 years of successful Agriculture Sales Experience is required, more is preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in an Agriculture based program.
  • Drive, expertise and self-motivation.
  • Ability to develop new customer base – including cold calls and research to determine qualified prospects.
  • Fit into a fast-paced, high-growth, entrepreneurial culture that requires collaborative teamwork.
  • Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) certification preferred, or ability to test for credentials
  • Valid Driver’s License
Skills: 
  • Ability to effectively close sales
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent writing skills. 
  • Proficiency in computer processing functions and other standard office equipment;
  • Excellent Microsoft office skills, especially excel.
  • Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple tasks;
  • Ability to create and deliver weekly sales reports, to include projected sales and target dates.
  • Read, comprehend reports and analyze data and explain clearly and concisely to others;
  • Ability to calmly and professionally resolve issues with diplomacy and tact;
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
  • Strong organizational skill.
