As a Financial Analyst at Deer Valley, you will have the opportunity to blend your financial expertise with your passion for skiing and mountain culture, all while being surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of the Wasatch Mountains. RESPONSIBILITIES: Financial Planning and Analysis: Develop, maintain, and enhance financial models to support annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term strategic planning processes. Analyze financial performance metrics and key drivers to provide actionable insights to management. Revenue Analysis: Analyze revenue streams including lift ticket sales, season passes, ski school, dining, and lodging, identifying trends and opportunities for revenue growth. Conduct pricing analysis and recommend adjustments to optimize revenue and profitability. Cost Management: Monitor operating expenses and cost of goods sold, identifying areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvement while maintaining high service standards. Work closely with department heads to develop and track departmental budgets. Financial Reporting: Prepare regular financial reports and dashboards for senior management and stakeholders. Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data, adhering to regulatory requirements and accounting standards. Capital Expenditure Analysis: Evaluate proposed capital projects and investments, conduct financial feasibility studies and ROI analysis. Assist in prioritizing capital expenditures to maximize return on investment and enhance guest experience. Forecasting and Scenario Analysis: Support the development of financial forecasts and scenario analysis to assess the impact of external factors such as weather conditions, visitor trends, and economic changes. Provide insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making and risk management. Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with various departments including operations, marketing, and guest services to align financial goals with overall business objectives. Serve as a financial partner and advisor, providing analytical support and actionable recommendations to drive performance improvement. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (Master's degree preferred). 3 years of experience in financial analysis, preferably in the hospitality, tourism, or leisure industry. Strong analytical skills with proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Tableau, Power BI). Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and levels of the organization. Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and integrity of financial data. Passion for skiing or outdoor recreation and a desire to contribute to the success of a world-class ski resort.
