POSITION SUMMARY — Must possess TIG (GTAW) welding skills including setup of welders and ability to weld vertical and horizontal welds with satisfactory results using aluminum and/or steel. WORK ENVIRONMENT — Must be willing and able to work in an environment exposed to elements that can include but are not limited to coolant, dust, mist, elevated noise, and uncontrolled temperatures. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSCheck and adjust machine settings to ensure proper penetrationFirst Off Procedure (specification, place jig, check dimensions, check first product) TIG weld and set up (join/fabricate materials: steel and/or aluminum) Ensure work is done safely and meets quality standards Assemble items as instructed by work instructionsMaintain safe and clean working environment by complying with 6S procedures, rules, and regulations and take proper care of all equipment and facilitiesExamine work for defects Identify and handle nonconforming parts Ensure welder is in proper working condition (check temperature) Read welding work scheduleAbility to stop the production line and/or prevent shipment of products due to nonconformance or potential nonconformance products to our customersSupport the environmental policy with proactive process implementation, improvement suggestions, reducing waste, and acting on environment performance results and findingsSKILLS & ABILITIES Ability to read and interpret blueprints and/or drawings to determine the specific welding requirementsAbility to provide a great level of attention to detail and focus on the given taskEffectively work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiencyAbility to use measuring equipment (calipers, tape measures, and angle gauges)Ability to operate small grinding equipment (right angle grinder, pencil grinder, belt sander, etc.)Ability to know a good weld versus a bad weld in terms of Dee Zee standardsAbility to read and understand written work instructionsGeneral knowledge of how to use welding equipmentKnow how to set up machines for personal preferencesUnderstanding of how to operate foot feed/pedalAbility to use hand tools (clamps, grinders, etc.)Possess vertical and horizontal welding skills POSITION QUALIFICATIONSEducation: High School Graduate, GED, or HSDE; Associate's Degree preferred Experience: One year of related experience preferred; TIG welding experience and/or training preferred Computer Skills: Must demonstrate computer literacy Certificates & Licenses: Welding Certificate preferred Other Requirements: Must pass the welding test
