DecksDirect is Hiring an Estimator Near Plymouth, MN

The Estimator plays a key role in DecksDirect executing its customer-focused core values. This position assists the sales team by identifying how products interact with deck designs and creating detailed takeoffs, quotes, and renderings to illustrate the completed deck project. 

An Estimator mindset views challenges or problems as opportunities to show ingenuity that provides real value to our customers. This is done by thoroughly understanding our products and how they interact with each other, as well as our customer’s project needs. These skills are honed through structured product training, open collaboration between coworkers, and on-the-job experience. An ideal candidate is curious about how things work and continually seeks to expand their knowledge base. An Estimator must feel comfortable managing multiple project quotes daily through prioritization, proprietary quoting resources, various software solutions, and clear communication with sales team counterparts. 

 

Key Responsibility Areas: 

  • Communicating with the Sales team frequently throughout the day to address any project details that 
  • Be a resource for the Customer Solutions team for post-sale customer support
  • Be an active participant in new product training and coaching sessions
  • Producing timely, accurate, and complete Takeoffs, Quotes, and Renderings 
  • Become a product expert by investing time, energy, and company resources to gain industry and brand knowledge
  • Receptive to new processes and tools that may increase efficiency while decreasing turnaround time on proposals for projects
 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate basic computer literacy
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Stay organized while working on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Demonstrates proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Must enjoy collaborating in a team environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Able to work autonomously
 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous work experience in estimating, project management, design, or engineering 
  • SketchUp or CAD experience 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
  • Experience with the Google Workspace, specifically Gmail and Google Drive
  • Ability to read and understand basic or detailed blueprints
