Decatur County REMC is Hiring a Billing Specialist Near Greensburg, IN

The Billing Specialist executes the cooperative billing and collections function for the cooperative. This position works with members on billing related issues and executes processes to promote the cooperative model to the communities we serve.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role, an individual must be able to perform in a satisfactory manner the functions listed below. The company will make reasonable accommodations to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Prepare and process billings.

• Processes payments —including electronic payments, recurring credit card, bank draft, RPPS, and assisting when needed with mail payments.

• Work with members by telephone or in person to provide information and/or answer member account questions, high bill complaints, payment options and other billing-related issues.

• Process service orders for security lights, tree work, transfers, disconnects, new services, or other miscellaneous issues.

• Process meter exchanges, transformer exchanges and update information in NISC software.

• Balance and verify payments and adjustments for all services within Decatur County REMC and all subsidiaries. Log all balancing data as part of this process.

• Support Internet programs including new members, answering service and support questions and record information in NISC software.

• Execute disconnect process that includes printing cut-off service orders, making payment arrangements, operating disconnect collars, handling operations crew support and updating the NISC software.

• Monitor prebill for electric and gas accounts and process associated service orders, as needed.

• Accurately manage the MDM Data daily.

• Reconciliation of Hometown Energy billing statements monthly.

• Support required communication between cooperative and NISC.

• Support collection of NSF checks and working with collection agencies.
