Deaf Independent Living Association, Inc. (DILA) is a growing non-profit Human Service organization that promotes independence of people who are deaf or hard of hearing through communication, connection and community supports. Our service area is the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
An Independent Living Advisor (ILA) provides support, guidance and role modeling while supporting daily activities of individuals served. Services are individualized according to the needs of each individual which are provided in their homes and out in the community so that they have independence in the community to lead full and happy lives. Assistance areas range from but are not limited to personal hygiene, medication administration, advocacy, communication facilitation, money management, household management and much more. Schedules are filled according to individuals' needs.
Qualifications: High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required; one year related experience preferred; competency with basic independent living skills; must be flexible, able to work some evenings, overnights and weekends as well as work within a team approach environment. Need to have the ability to teach, advise and motivate people. Valid driver's license, reliable transportation and good driving record required, as well as clean background check. Fluency in ASL, preferred; but willing to train the right person.
Benefits: Part time position has limited benefits as outlined in the Agency Policy Manual. Position classification is non exempt and rate of pay determined upon hire. Minimum starting wage is $16 per hour.
