In-House Legal Counsel / Attorney

D. Dip Automotive Group is seeking to hire an In-House Legal Counsel / Attorney to join our dealership group based in Eastern New Jersey. The ideal candidate must have Automotive experience. This position would be responsible for acting as dedicated legal counsel and representation for our auto dealerships based in Ocean Township, Freehold, and Elizabeth. To excel in this role, the ideal candidate must have experience with the automotive industry and related regulations, and have general business sense and the ability to assess associated risks for a given business situation.

The qualified individual will be expected to manage a variety of company-related legal situations, work closely with state regulatory agencies, and advise management on legal matters.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate counsel and provide management oversight on laws and regulations affecting automotive dealerships, with a heavy emphasis in automotive law and regulation specific to the state of New Jersey.
• Manage claim submission with insurance carriers and act as group/store liaison with carriers and outside counsel handling customer and employee suits.
• Provide mediation and drive solutions to difficult customer complaints in effort to avoid costly litigation.
• Plan, execute and review work of our corporate team related to certain projects within a specified time frame.
• Provide legal support and representation related to various business-related aspects such as real estate, insurance, human resources, compensation and more.
• Give legal input and assistance on customer and supplier contracts
• Advise on legal disputes and litigation
• Supervise and execute any necessary compliance investigations
• Assist in contract based commercial dispute resolution.
• Provide risk/conflict management expertise, developing appropriate measures to minimize risk and exposure of legal issues.

Qualifications

• Doctorate in Law and a minimum of 3 years of legal counsel experience
• Licensed to practice in the state of New Jersey
• Experience providing legal counsel in the automotive industry is a huge plus
• Excellent organizational and planning skills
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with others in cross functional teams.
• Legal documentation and legislation expertise
• Experience in advising on various legal matters, including commercial disputes

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
