Salary Range: $44,654-$71,893
Purpose of Classification:
The purpose of this classification is to perform skilled maintenance, fabrication, overhaul and repair of mechanical equipment located within a water, wastewater, pump stations, lift stations and treatment facilities as a fully competent plant maintenance mechanic, working independently in diagnosing problems and facilitating repairs.
This classification is safety sensitive, subject to random drug testing in accordance with the County’s Drug & Alcohol Policy.
Essential Functions:
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Reviews system designs, specifications, and products, attends pre-construction meetings, and recommends changes in water/wastewater facilities mechanical systems; troubleshoots problems and recommends corrective actions based on skilled knowledge of mechanical repair practices; and performs preventative maintenance and corrective repair work on water/wastewater facilities and equipment.
Fabricates and machines repair parts for equipment; welds steel, brass and aluminum; operates lathes, mill/drill presses, welders and various other metal working power and hand tools; and locates leaks and detects defects in water/wastewater equipment and machinery according to established plans and standards.
Monitors, reviews and validates work practices for quality control of processes and to ensure adherence to safety standards; and monitors and trains entry level crew members on safety methods and standards.
Inputs and gathers data from Supervisory Control Data Acquisition system (SCADA) and runs reports as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; three years of experience in industrial maintenance preferably in a water and/or wastewater treatment facility; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license; must obtain a State of Georgia CDL Class B License within six months of employment.
