DC Bilingual is recruiting English teachers to provide highly effective early childhood instruction to our students. English teachers share planning and delivery responsibilities for all contents with a co-teacher and are responsible for creating a strong learning culture. Teachers will support DC Bilingual’s mission through the collaborative implementation of our dual-immersion bilingual program. DC Bilingual is seeking motivated teachers who are committed to DC Bilingual’s mission of fostering a learning community that ensures high academic achievement in English and Spanish, develops leadership, and values all cultures. All staff are expected to work collaboratively within our professional learning community (PLC). JOB RESPONSIBILITIESProvide rigorous instruction to students by creating a safe, nurturing, and intellectually challenging learning environment and by applying the DCB content curriculum, school-wide instructional strategies, non-negotiables, and best practices.Plan and teach DCB content curriculum, school-wide instructional strategies, and best practices.Design data-driven classroom lessons and unit plans that meet all standards and objectives by differentiating instructional levels so that all students access the curriculum, content, and concepts. All plans and assessments must be approached collaboratively with co-teachers, the instructional support team, and other staff.Formally and informally assess student progress using standards, formative and summative assessments, and analyze the data daily, weekly and quarterly using school-wide data trackers to drive instructional decisions. Complete individual student progress reports and conduct individual parent-teacher conferences on a quarterly basis and additionally as needed.Participate in ongoing professional development, including various modalities of coaching; receive and provide critical feedback and implement all learning in the classroom; participate in grade-level team meetings and student-focused meetingsPromote family engagement by developing a partnership with caretakers through ongoing positive communication, home visits and other activities that encourage active participation in student learningAdhere to the No Nonsense Nurture expectations for managing student relations and behaviorsOther duties as assigned ADDITIONAL DCB STAFF REQUIREMENTS Meet all expectations as outlined by the DC Bilingual Leading and Learning FrameworkMeet all expectations as outlined in the Employee handbook and Standards of ConductAbide by the DC Bilingual 7 Agreements https://docs.google.com/document/d/1bOWX4IjKem9eJPqb4wzW3sW16rNRRMP80fi1EkuQle4/edit Attend school wide Justice, Equity and Inclusion trainings and affinity group meetings Demonstrate dedication to the Professional Learning Community (PLC) by supporting school-wide initiatives and programsOther duties as assigned If SPED certifiedProvide direct support to students with disabilities by delivering specialized instruction and ensuring active learning through a variety of models and strategies.Ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications occur in the curriculum, lessons and learning environment as guided in student Individualized Education Plans (IEP)Develop and implement student Individualized Education Programs (IEP) and progress reports for the grade level being taughtComplete individual student progress reports and conduct individual parent-teacher conferences on a quarterly basis and additionally as neededUtilize Special Education Data System (SEDS) regarding student files; work with SPED Manager to create IEPs, maintain special education records and timelines for studentsParticipate in MDT meetingsProvide behavior support as needed, including implementation of behavior intervention plans (BIP)Assist in the implementation of the inclusion/resource model embedded within our Two Way Immersion Bilingual program REQUIREMENTSBachelor’s degree in Special Education, Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, or equivalentDC Praxis Passing ScoreSpecial Education Certification PreferredBilingual preferred but not required (Spanish/English)Demonstrated ability to work with students and families from diverse backgroundsPreferred two or more years of experience (preferably in an urban or culturally diverse setting) SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTSThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.
