Overview:The CNC Machining Instructor will be responsible for delivering high-quality education and training to post-secondary students in the field of CNC Machining and manufacturing. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of CNC machining, mill, lathe, CAD/CAM programming and related technologies, along with a passion for teaching and fostering a dynamic learning environment. The instructor will play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of skilled CNC machinists by providing hands-on training and comprehensive theoretical instruction.

Required Qualifications: This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent.Completion of three years occupational experience in CNC machining/manufacturing occupations.Applicants must have documentation of industry certification when state or national industry certifications are available and applicable and any additional relevant certifications and licensures in the field of CNC Machining.

Desired Qualifications: Associate degree, prior teaching or training experience in an educational institution or vocational training center is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and effective classroom lectures, hands-on demonstrations, and practical labs to import theoretical knowledge and technical skills to students.
  • Supervise and facilitate practical training sessions in the lab, providing guidance and support to students as they work on CNC machines and related systems, and committed to upholding safety standards and promoting a culture of safety in the lab and classroom.
  • Develop and administer assessments, assignments, and examinations to evaluate students’ comprehension of course materials and their practical proficiency in CNC Machining.
  • Provide academic and career guidance to students, offering mentorship and support to help them succeed in their academic endeavors and future careers in the manufacturing industry.
  • Foster strong relationships with local businesses, industry professionals, and relevant organization to stay informed about industry trends, technological advancements, and potential job opportunities for students.
  • Responsible for forming an Advisory Committee and holding official meetings at least once a semester. Committee members can include but are not limited to industry partners, local workforce board, students, secondary educational institutions, all relevant stakeholders.
  • Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the lab, tools, and equipment, ensuring that all resources are in good working condition and meet safety standards.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in manufacturing technology through continuous learning, professional development activities, and participation in relevant workshops, seminars, and conferences.
  • Manage administrative responsibilities such as maintaining student records, preparing reports, participating in faculty meetings, and contributing to the development of departmental policies and procedures, responsible for monitoring and evaluating program adjunct instructors and lab techs.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching:

  • Teaches assigned courses.
  • Uses instructional technology methods when presenting course content.
  • Communicates effectively and efficiently with students.
  • Provides written course syllabus which includes classroom policies, procedures, grading, and learning outcomes.
  • Uses appropriate and up-to-date course materials, including learning objectives, texts, and supplementary teaching materials.
  • Applies classroom management strategies in face to face, hybrid, and/or online format.
  • Implements student assessment policies, such as testing or observation of skills.
  • Submits grades or other course assessment reports in a timely manner.
  • Manages routine classroom responsibilities in a professional manner.

Professional Development:

  • Participates in activities that advance professional competencies and teaching skills.
  • Engages in activities that advance the teaching discipline or profession.
  • Maintains or acquires appropriate or required certifications, licensure, or other professional credentials.

College Responsibilities and Service:

  • Serving on department, school, and college-wide committees.
  • Participating in the promotion and continuing contract process.
  • Attends department, division, and college-wide academic functions.
  • Keeps scheduled office hours as required by the respective load formula for the purpose of academic advising.
  • Records student attendance as necessary.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: This position requires a knowledge of areas of discipline to be taught; the ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with students, colleagues and supervisors; the ability to communicate clearly, effectively and professionally through oral and written communications; commitment to the community college mission, innovative and effective teaching, sustained and significant professional development, and service to the College; Computer literacy and the ability to navigate in a Macintosh environment is also required.
