The purpose of this classification if to perform professional and technical work in long range land use activities and current development planning as they relate to the administration of a variety of City planning programs.
Work involves conducting research and preparing studies related to such items as land use, population, housing, economic bases, transportation systems, Historic Preservation, conservation and socio-economic conditions as they apply to growth management and the development and administration of short and long-range comprehensive planning programs. An employee in this class prepares planning studies, analyzes data collected and develops recommendations for review and approval. Employee works with a high degree of independence on projects and acts as liaison to other departments. Work is reviewed fortechnical adequacy and professional standards through conversation and observation of results achieved.
