General Job Description:

Perform all general maintenance duties for the district.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide technical expertise and manual skills in the inspection, servicing and repairs of buildings, grounds, equipment and furnishings.

  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment. I.E. lubrication, cleaning, filter replacement, adjustments, fluid changes.

  • Repair equipment and buildings as needed.

  • Install new equipment when necessary.

  • Monitor and regulate HVAC and Controls. Prepare systems for seasonal changeovers.

  • Responsible for grounds maintenance, mowing, trimming, and snow removal.

  • Assist in development of short and long range maintenance recommendations.

  • Perform duties as directed by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED. Post-secondary training in a trade is desirable. Advanced skills in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, HVAC, fire suppression, security, and communication systems substantiated by training and work experience.

  • Ability to perform physically demanding work that includes lifting/moving heavy items.

  • Collects, records, and maintains data accurately. Applies basic mathematical concepts correctly.

  • Displays flexibility, reliability, self-discipline, and a willingness to take on challenging tasks.

  • Embodies high ethical standards and integrity. Accepts responsibility for decisions and conduct.

  • Interacts confidently with others and displays a strong customer-service focus.

  • Knowledgeable about environmental, health and safety regulations, building codes, and ADA accessibility guidelines. Uses blueprints/schematic diagrams effectively.

  • Works effectively with limited supervision. Manages tasks efficiently to meet deadlines.

  • Shows evidence of core computer competencies deemed appropriate at the time of hire.

  • Meets all mandated health screening requirements.

  • Maintains a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment. Able to successfully pass a BCI/FBI background check.

  • Maintains compliance with drug-free workplace rules, Board policies, and other applicable procedures/guidelines.


Salary:

Appropriate placement on the Custodial/Maintenance Salary Schedule to be determined by education and experience. Salary will range from $47,992 ( Class IA, Step 0) to $54,265 (Class IA, Step 5). Base contract is 260 Days. Minimum workday is 8 hours per day exclusive of a lunch break . One-year contract with opportunity for renewal.

Other Benefits:

School Employees Retirement System, Worker’s Compensation, paid sick/personal leave, partial tuition reimbursement, and tax-sheltered retirement contributions. Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance offered. Some benefits are a shared cost between the employee and the Board of Education.

Performance Evaluation:

Job performance is evaluated according to policy provisions and contractual agreements adopted by the Upper Valley Career Center.
