TITLE: Supported Employment Specialist STATUS: Full-Time, Non-Exempt REPORTS TO: Manager of Supported Employment JOB SUMMARY: Provide vocational support services to individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:· Use evidence-based techniques and strategies to provide person-centered vocational counseling, assessment, goal planning, and follow-up supports to clients working in community jobs.· Assist clients to retain employment, advance their careers and develop independence in a way that matches their skills, interests and needs with the work opportunities.· Develop and implement strategies to promote natural supports and independence at work as well as oversight, transportation and personal care.· Promote vocational engagement and success as one area of social health determinants, within the wider framework of a healthy, productive and integrated life.· Complete necessary record keeping, support documentation and billing to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.· Follow policies and procedures of funding, licensing and regulatory agencies.· Communicate internally within agency and externally with other service providers, employers, community agencies, families and funding sources, fostering positive professional relationships.· Refer clients to service options within and outside Challenge.· Miscellaneous duties as assigned, including coverage in other programs as needed. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREDHigh School Diploma Required, BA preferred. Relevant experience working with and/or supporting Developmentally Disabled individuals or strong experience as a supervisor or trainer in a field such as retail, hospitality, food service or custodial. Ability to pass necessary background and New York State driver’s license check. COMPETENCY REQUIREDOrganizational skills, Computer literacy, Ability to communicate well with participants, fellow service staff and community employers. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Team building skills WORKING CONDITIONS Work takes place in a wide variety of locations around the Tompkins County area, in both indoor and outdoor settings.
