Daydream Sunshine Initiative is Hiring a Part-Time/ PRN Nurse Practitioner - Infectious Disease Clinic Near Bowie, MD

Daydream Sunshine Initiative (DSI) is looking for a qualified, experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) that specializes in the care of patients with HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, and other Infectious Diseases. As a Nurse Practitioner, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive healthcare services to patients living with HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals in our community who are affected by these conditions.

DSI is a non-profit, independent organization dedicated to HIV care and prevention. The practice is in Bowie, MD, which is located just east of Washington D.C. and Alexandria, VA, and south of Baltimore, MD. Our goal is to provide exceptional patient care that exceeds expectations. DSI is now enrolled as a Ryan White Clinic to help patients who are uninsured or underinsured.

The ideal candidate will be active in the clinic helping to care for patients via telemed and in-person services as scheduled from Monday through Friday. This is a part-time position and includes, but is not limited to, the following duties:

Responsibilities:

Patient Care:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients, including medical history, physical examination, and diagnostic tests.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Provide education and counseling to patients and their families regarding disease management, medication adherence, and prevention strategies.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to optimize health outcomes.

Medication Management:

  • Prescribe and manage medications, including antiretroviral therapy (ART) and medications for opportunistic infections.
  • Monitor medication efficacy and side effects, and make appropriate adjustments to treatment regimens.
  • Educate patients about the importance of medication adherence and provide support to promote compliance.

Health Promotion and Disease Prevention:

  • Develop and implement programs to promote health and prevent the spread of infectious diseases within the community.
  • Conduct screenings and provide vaccinations for infectious diseases as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with community organizations and public health agencies to advocate for disease prevention and support initiatives.

Collaborative Teamwork:

  • Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, social workers, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for patients.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to review patient cases, discuss treatment plans, and coordinate care transitions.

Documentation and Recordkeeping:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records, including progress notes, treatment plans, and diagnostic results.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and standards of practice in documentation and recordkeeping.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, AND CERTIFICATIONS

Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215, or possess a current multi-state license in party states which candidates have declared as primary states of residence.

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
