Daybreak is looking for an part-time Residential Specialist to assist in our mission of providing Miami Valley homeless and vulnerable youth with services that promote safety, stability, and well-being. This position will play a role in achieving our vision of a promising future for all youth.
Hours: 2nd Shift every other weekend - 16 hours. 11:00pm - 7:00am. The hourly rate for this position is $16.00 with the ability to pick up additional shifts.
About Us: Daybreak was established in 1975 in Dayton, Ohio as an emergency shelter for runaway and homeless youth. Today, Daybreak operates the Miami Valley's only 24-hour crisis hotline and emergency youth shelter and has grown to include outreach, prevention, transitional housing, life-skills education, and other follow-up services for runaway, throwaway, and homeless youth.
Position Responsibilities: The Residential Specialist will respond to Miami Valley's only 24-hour crisis hotline and youth who walk into the emergency youth shelter. This unique youth shelter includes outreach, prevention, transitional housing, life-skills education, and other follow-up services for runaway, throwaway, and homeless youth. This position assumes an advocacy and leadership role which includes engaging the clients, providing daily face-to-face crisis intervention and stabilization services. This role will complete intake interviews and termination forms for youth entering and exiting the shelter during the shift. The Residential Specialist will provide guidance and coaching for youth as assigned including information, referral, outreach, advocacy, and linkage with educational, employment, financial, housing, counseling, medical and other social resources in the community. They will supervise, assist, and participate with residents in scheduled activities (i.e., groups, chores). Timely documentation is required of all paperwork for the client's record and agency productivity goals as established for the program according to agency protocols, standards, and expectations.
