Day’s Jewelers is a chain of full-service jewelry stores located in Maine and New Hampshire. Founded in Portland, Maine in 1914 by the Davidson family and later purchased by the Corey family in 1988, the company was family owned and operated for 107 years. On November 1, 2021, Day's became a 100% employee-owned company.

The company also operates an e-commerce website, www.daysjewelers.com. Day’s is noted for professionalism and for its commitment to social, ethical, and environmental responsibility.

The Marketing Manager [MM] will collaborate with the V.P. of Marketing to establish each annual budget and marketing plan. The MM will be responsible for implementation of all of Day’s Jewelers marketing strategies, marketing communications, advertising, and public relations activities, both external and internal. The MM supervises and directs the efforts of the visual marketing and advertising employees and coordinates at the strategic and tactical levels with the other functions of the company. 

Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Responsible for implementing a comprehensive marketing, communications and public relations program that will most effectively communicate the Day’s brand with a focus on increasing sales.

· Facilitate effective and efficient communication to our customers and potential customers of the distinguishing characteristics of Day’s, differentiating our products and services from that of our competitors.

· Strategically communicate Day’s Jewelers Employee Stock Ownership Plan both internally and externally via various channels. 

· Along with the V.P. of Marketing, develop the annual marketing plan including strategies, tactics and identify resources necessary to achieve goals. 

· Ensure articulation of Day’s Jewelers brand (desired image and position), assure consistent communication of the Day’s brand throughout the company both internally and externally.

· Coordinate media interest in Day’s Jewelers and ensure regular contact with target media and appropriate response to media requests.

· Coordinate the production of and oversee the appearance of all Day’s Jewelers print and electronic marketing materials.

· Support and help facilitate the creation of content for website, social media and blogs.

· Facilitate creation and design of POP materials, including show window design, banners, signs, etc.

· Maintain an effective forum to allow any associate to have input into our marketing initiatives and to make suggestions for improvement

· Collaborate with V.P. of Marketing to implement market research as deemed advantageous.

· Regularly provide marketing support and collaborate with Store Operations, Human Resources, Finance, IT, and the Merchandising Department. 

· Create an institutional and system-wide marketing reporting function that can track, measure and analyze performance. 

· Ensure all marketing communications are coordinated, support marketing plan objectives and are an effective expenditure of resources. 

· Pursue and utilize funds available from cooperative advertising plans offered by our vendors if the plans meet the requirements of our overall marketing effort.

· Ensure communication of advertising and promotional tactics company-wide in an effective manner to provide ample time for awareness and preparation. 

· Provide input and support to the company’s leadership in the development of joint ventures, affiliations and partnership arrangements. 

· Provide marketing skills and expertise to the company by building, developing and managing a marketing team capable of carrying out the necessary marketing strategies and tactics. 

· Conducts formal, annual performance appraisals on employees of the Marketing Department.

· Participate in professional societies and activities related to the jewelry industry in general and the marketing profession in particular. 

· Oversee and provide assistance to Store Operations in the coordination of in-store events.

· Prepare presentations to explain the company’s current and future strategies. 

· Ensure marketing expenditures are within constraints of Marketing Department budget.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position, a typical Monday through Friday work week is expected. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

TRAVEL

This position requires up to 15 - 25% travel. 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communication or Advertising.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • MBA or advanced degree
  • 4 years of experience in product and brand marketing required with some new product development experience preferred.
