Associates Degree with basic accounting courses preferred.
Minimum of five (5) years of successful secretarial experience in a school setting preferred
Minimum 2 years experience with payroll process preferred
Knowledge of payroll taxes, IRS and State of Michigan payroll laws, MPSERS, and related regulations preferred
Experience working with various union and employee contracts
Experience in handling highly confidential information
Ability to perform duties with awareness of district requirements and policies
Proficient in establishing and maintaining sound internal control policies
Proficient in Google applications
Proficient in general office procedures, typing, telephones, and office equipment
Outstanding organizational skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills using tact, courtesy, and consistent professionalism with personnel, students, parents and the general public
Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations
Ability to work cooperatively with other employees in a team setting

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Process all purchase requisitions for the district
Coordinate district and administration purchasing
Process deposit receipts including making deposit for the district
Prepare and distribute invoicing for the district
Work directly with payroll specialist in the preparation of biweekly payroll for approximately 750 employees.
Assist in preparing and maintaining employee salary schedules and other payroll information, including pay rates, labor distributions in accounting records, and deductions.
Assist in processing, reporting, and payment of payroll and withholding taxes, retirement contributions, garnishments, 403(b) contributions, and other employee withholdings
Provide assistance to Director of Business Services and other clerical staff as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
