Davidson Elementary School is Hiring a STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES/SPEECH AND LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST, ENDORSEMENT 215 (#Student Support Services Speech and Language Patho) Near Water Valley, MS

Job Description:

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (Include but are not limited to):

  1. Meets and instructs individuals and groups in the locations and at times designated.

2.Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning by organizing time, space, materials, equipment, activities, etc. to take into account differences in capabilities, learning styles, and rate of learning.

  1. Completes necessary special services forms needed for referral to placement process (permission, interviews, screening, etc.)
  1. Administers and interprets assessment tests for students recommended for the exceptional education program.
  1. Conducts, as needed, hearing and vision screenings for the district.
  1. Screens hearing and speech/language of students in kindergarten, first grade, and Head Start Centers.
  1. Conducts parent interviews for initial testing permission, placement, etc.
  1. Evaluates language, articulation, voice and fluency.
  1. Serves as a member of the Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) when appropriate.
  1. Works with the regular and Special Education teachers to plan curriculum for multi handicapped children.
  1. Demonstrates knowledge of subject matter being taught, while employing a variety of instructional techniques and media, consistent with the needs and capabilities of the individuals/groups involved.
  1. Develops and maintains student’s IEP and IEP folders with appropriate documentation. Provides appropriate paperwork to the district office.

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by each school Principal and the district Special Education Director.
