Title: Summer Painter
Reports to: Director of Maintenance
Terms of Employment: Temporary
Salary: Hourly
An employee in this class performs a variety of custodial, unskilled and laborer maintenance task maintaining school facilities, buildings, and grounds. Work involves general landscape maintenance such as mowing grass, general custodial work and limited building maintenance tasks including painting, changing light fixtures, roofing, and minor plumbing. Work requires the employee to use various hand tools, small motorized equipment and riding and push mowers. Work involves the performance of varied tasks requiring familiarity with and some competence in basic trade practices. Much of the work is carried out in accordance with established maintenance schedules; however, specific instructions and close supervision are received on new and special assignments. Employee must have the ability to execute details of work according to specific instructions and be able to adapt to frequent and varying changes in the work schedule. Some independent judgment is exercised in performing daily work activities and the employee is often assigned and responsible for specific work areas and/or buildings. Work is performed under general supervision and is evaluated by observation and in terms of the efficiency with which assigned tasks are completed.
Graduation from high school supplemented by course work in technical or trade skills and 3 years carpentry/building experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to perform sedentary work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Some positions assigned to this class may require light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to perform heavy work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and /or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must possess visual acuity to operate machines such as drills and power saws, to perform skill trades tasks of a non-repetitive nature, and keep and maintain various records.
