Position Announcement

POSITION: Utility Vegetation Work Planner

TYPE: Full-Time, Hourly, Monday - Friday

POSITION LOCATION: Austin, Texas

The Davey Resource Group (DRG) is currently hiring certified arborists, professional foresters, horticulturalists, natural resource specialists, environmental scientists, GIS technicians, and plant and outdoor enthusiasts to join our workforce.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with Austin Energy to address its vegetation clearance needs
  • Inspect utility rights of ways and identify vegetation incompatible with state and federal regulations
  • Collect and enter data on handheld devices, follow maps and use GPS navigation
  • Communicate with landowners regarding work on or near their property
  • Assess all terrain, habitat, and environmental conditions
  • Other related duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 1 year of utility vegetation management experience OR International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist
  • Knowledge of local tree species and growth rates
  • Ability to work and hike in rugged terrain and inclement weather
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, Google Drive, ArcGIS maps and electronic work planning software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Clean DMV driving record and ability to drive and operate a 4x4 vehicle on rough roads
