We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Utility Line Locator to join our team. As a Utility Line Locator, you will be responsible for locating and marking underground utility lines to ensure their safety and prevent damage during construction or excavation projects. This is a vital role in ensuring the integrity of utility systems and the safety of workers.

Responsibilities:

• Utilize client work prints and electromagnetic locate equipment to safely and accurately locate underground fiber and copper facilities
• Collaborate with the DRG operations team and underground subcontractors to schedule locates in KY and GA, and be flexible to travel between both locations
• Maintain accurate records of utility locations to include redlines and photographs
• Conduct a safety assessment at each job site to identify potential hazards or issues
• Must be able to speak in depth to the concepts and methodologies of precision
• electromagnetic locating, and be highly proficient in utilizing equipment provided by DRG
• May perform other fiber construction operational duties as assigned, to include working with an aerial placement crew

Requirements

• Ability to travel for work
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required
• High level of integrity, honesty, and professionalism
• Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time, bend, reach and to move or carry items weighing up to 25 lbs
• Proficient use of field-based computers and tablets
• Ability to proficiently use a handheld/backpack GPS unit and locate utility poles and underground utility lines accurately
• Knowledge of Google Suite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Presentations, Forms).
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Access).
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings related to utility systems
• Possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and in various hours of the day or night and holidays as required
• Electric utility and telecommunications experience required

Additional Information:

The ideal candidate would be comfortable with traveling from location to location within the client’s service territory. Candidates must be comfortable working full time with a minimum of 40 - 45 hours per week. Compensation based on experience.
