Datadog is Hiring a Product Designer II - Notebooks Near New York, NY

We're looking for a Product Designer 2 to join our dynamic Graphing team to focus on our Notebooks product. Our Notebooks product is core to our users workflows to help them explore their data and share stories by creating postmortems, investigations, runbooks, and other documentation. In this role, you'll play a pivotal part in elevating our Notebooks features by designing the future of the cell-based collaborative writing experience for our users. Collaborating within the product design team, you'll work alongside talented designers to develop and refine the best possible designs and solutions, contributing to a product that's at the heart of Datadog's ecosystem.

What You'll Do:

  • Work with product managers, engineers to understand how our customers use Datadog and what they need to succeed
  • Collaborate with product managers and engineers to ensure that we build the right product for our customers, and that the design is well-planned, structured, and efficiently executed.
  • Work closely with the Graphing design team to use the existing Datadog design system and when necessary build new components.
  • Possess a research and strategic mindset to ensure the product resonates with users in this unique and ambiguous space.
  • Communicate your design work and the support for your design decisions internally to your product team and the whole company.
  • Build a process for working with your product and engineering peers, to ship your designs and see them through to production.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to understand how your designs will be built and Q/A them before we ship.
  • Be the expert in your product area, mentoring other designers on the team to do their best work.

Who You Are:

  • You have 4 years of experience in digital product design
  • Your portfolio includes a proven track record of shipping design work in complex web applications
  • You are an excellent visual and written communicator, able to clearly communicate your design work and the support for your design decisions
  • You have experience with advanced prototyping tools (e.g. Figma, Protopie, Principle, Framer, Sketch)
  • You understand systems thinking and component-based design patterns
  • You give and receive feedback well, supporting and improving the work of your colleagues as well as your own

The reasonably estimated salary for this role at Datadog ranges from $132,000 to $170,000, plus a competitive equity package, and may include variable compensation. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition, Datadog offers a wide range of best in class, comprehensive and inclusive employee benefits for this role including healthcare, dental, parental planning, and mental health benefits, a 401(k) plan and match, paid time off, fitness reimbursements, and a discounted employee stock purchase plan.
