Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health is Hiring a Communications Specialist Near Lebanon, NH

Overview

Local remote position - candidates must be able to be onsite multiple days per week, but will have some time remote

Creates and implements cohesive and effective Member internal communications plans that inform and educate health system employees, including feature communications materials that include feature stories, announcements, memoranda, annual report materials, brochure and collateral materials.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as liaison between Dartmouth Health’s Communications & Marketing department and the Member’s clinical and administrative sections and departments, creating and executing detailed communications plans and, within those plans, serves as a creator for various print and online communications vehicles.
  • Conducts interviews, researches, and writes information intended for distribution in print publications, digital vehicles, and internal communications channels.
  • Copies, edits, and proofreads material, securing source and leadership approvals before they are published in print or digital version, while adhering to tight deadlines.
  • Participates in weekly content meetings, presenting relevant communications, content, story updates.
  • Creates departmental memoranda and other internal announcements.
  • Serves as a resource to member stakeholders seeking advice about ways to disseminate their messages to ensure communication vehicles are appropriately covering the ongoing work of Dartmouth Health members.
  • Edits and proofreads material created by others.
  • Works with other Dartmouth Health Communications & Marketing staff to ensure consistency of message and brand identity.
  • Serves as PIO, working collaboratively with Dartmouth Health C&M POI and Incident Command
  • Works with designers and/or photographers to edit written content to fit layouts, schedule photos, write photo captions, and ensure consistency of message and brand identity.
  • Works collaboratively with communications offices across the Dartmouth Health system.
  • Works closely with Dartmouth Heath colleages on media relations to ensure consistent messaging across the system; responds to all media requests in consultation with Dartmouth Health Senior Manager, Media Relations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Serves as a local on-site communications stragegist to collaborate with Dartmouth Health content, creative services, media relations, and other teams to maximize effectiveness and reach of all communications targeted to employees.
  • Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications or related field, with 5 years of writing/editing experience, or the equivalent in education and experience required.
    • Experience in health care communications strongly preferred.
    • Familiarity in creating and executing detailed communications plans relating to internal and external communications required.
    • Ability to recognize and capitalize on the communications value of Dartmouth-Hitchcock events, activities and achievements.
    • Demonstrated strengths in stakeholder management and teamwork; ability to work productively with constituencies including system leadership, doctors, nurses, staff, and patients and families.
    • Ability to show judgment and poise in working effectively and accurately under tight deadlines, to deliver materials quickly, and to help resolve potential conflicts with sometimes shifting priorities.
    • Commitment to fostering respectful communication and collaboration within a diverse community.
