Position DetailsPosition Information Position Title Thayer Machine Shop TA Department Machine Shop Position Number 0000000 Hiring Range Minimum $17.00/hr Hiring Range Maximum $19.25/hr Location of Position15 Thayer Drive Hanover, NH 03755 Advertisement TextPosition PurposeShop Teaching Assistants are shop helpers who have completed at least 120 hours of shop employment, received training certifications for safety in metal cutting and basic machine operations, and have been nominated to the position by a technical instructor. Shop Teaching Assistants are assigned to monitor specific shop users providing access and advice. Shop Teaching Assistants consult with Technical Instructors on process steps for completing student work. Teaching Assistants are assigned to complete work on behalf of research groups as time permits. Required Qualifications
Completion of minimum 100 hours of shop employment.
Certifications for safety in metal cutting and basic machine operations.

Uphold and enforce machine shop safety practices
Perform maintenance tasks on equipment in your assigned workstation according to you daily timesheet
Help shop users locate and find tools in the Toolcrib – demonstrate FileMaker’s tool finder software
Assist Instructors during lab sections; Engs. 1, 3, 21, 25, 33, etc.
Help students locate tools – demonstrate FileMaker tool finder
Instruct students with tool operation
Participate in peer instruction, teach other students how to maintain and operate tools at which you have receive competency certification
Contribute Ideas, Identify issues and recommend solutions to aid in the proper functioning of the machine shop
Other Duties as assigned by an instructor
