Darling International is Hiring an Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator Near Springdale, AR

Summary:

The Environmental Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all aspects of environmental compliance inside and outside the plant building.

Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for observing all Company safety rules and regulations, recognize safety as top Company priority and participate in regularly scheduled safety meetings with plant staff.
  • Responsible for environmental compliance including air and water permits.
  • Responsible for communication with Corporate Environmental & Safety departments.
  • Assist in oversite and compliance of odor control plan.
  • Overseeing wastewater process & operators while keeping in compliance.
  • Wastewater sampling.
  • Coordination with chemical companies for receiving chemicals and continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for achieving individual and department targets, goals and objectives.
  • Administers Darling Ingredient's Safety program which includes but is not limited to: compliance with all applicable laws and regulations; conducting OSHA safety training for new employees; monthly and annual training of employees; monthly safety facility audits; monthly safety meetings; perform accident investigations and advise management in corrective action needed.
  • Conducts training of employees in safety compliance, site inspections, log review, and report preparation to ensure compliance in the following:
    • Darling Ingredients Safety Policy
    • Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasures (SPCC)
    • Site-specific safety procedures and policies
  • Responsible for completion of internal audits and corrective action.
  • Audits all of the plant's daily documentation, approves documents, addresses corrective actions, and ensures the completion of them, and files documents accordingly.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts in all areas of responsibility.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Technical school Certificate or Associates Degree preferred
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience is required, preferably in an industrial or agricultural setting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field
  • Waste Water Experience
  • Ability to complete tasks and remain flexible with process changes
  • Good understanding of production maintenance and repair protocols.

Physical Demands

  • Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch.
  • Occasionally push, pull or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Regularly required reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasional overnight travel by personal vehicle or airplane.

Work Environment

  • Job functions will be carried out in an office, plant or field environment.
