We are looking for an Accountant to join our team on a temporary contract basis at our Winchester, VA headquarters location. This is a critical role responsible for data entry and analyzing data to support business decision-making by ensuring that accounting procedures are in compliance with regulations.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

• Ability to accurately code invoices and verify approvals against approval limits.
• Documents financial transactions by entering account information.
• Summarizes current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports.
• Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents.
• Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
• Maintains financial security by following internal controls.
• Complies with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation
• Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
• Expected to perform other duties as assigned.

If you have the following, we want to hear from you:

• Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting or related field
• 2 to 3 years of professional finance, accounting or budgeting and forecasting experience;
• Successful track record of relevant experience in all functional areas listed;
• Ability to build effective business relationships with all levels in the organization;
• Above average computer skills in a networked environment with advanced knowledge and skills using all MS Office products, specifically Excel, Access and Word.
• Experience with SAP preferred.
  • Language Skills:
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common business journals and diagrams. Ability to listen and communicate effectively with customers/clients and employees in an effort to carry out responsibilities or respond to common inquiries from customers/clients, trade groups, or member for the business community and public. Ability to develop presentations to be delivered to groups and management.
  • Mathematical Skills:
    • Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts like addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division and to do this using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to interpret graphs and diagrams.
  • Reasoning Ability:
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, mathematical or diagram form and develop a plan of action to follow those instructions.

Physical Demands:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk or hear.
• The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
• Must be able to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.

Working Environment:

• Typically works in an office environment.
• The noise level is usually light to moderately loud.
• Occasional evening and weekend work required. Travel is required, but is less than 20%.
