Darigold is Hiring a Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) Purchaser Near Portland, OR

Darigold is seeking an experienced MRO ( Maintenance, Repair and Operations) Purchaser. This position is responsible for the effective execution of all maintenance MRO stock and non-stock purchasing processes. This position will report to the Maintenance Manager and is responsible for the efficient and effective purchasing of all plant MRO spares, non-stock and emergency repair items. This position will ensure that all plant purchasing activities will result in minimum downtime and maximum productivity. In order to fulfill these responsibilities in the most effective manner, the MRO Purchaser is empowered to manage purchasing priority, develop spares replenishment plans and identify approved vendors providing lowest cost with the highest level of support to the plant. In addition, the MRO Purchaser is to provide accurate accounting reports and answers to questions regarding spending.
What you will do:
Principle contact and liaison between the maintenance department and operation planning purchasing. They ensure the area, department or facility in which they are assigned receive professional customer service in a timely manner to ensure high equipment availability and performance through having the correct parts on hand.
  • Conduct research, evaluate findings and make educated decisions on MRO procurement matters for goods and services.
  • Interpret and evaluate MRO contract provisions.
  • Obtain oral and written price quotes from MRO vendors. Compare quotes with the specifications and availability of items and place MRO orders.
  • Prepare MRO purchase orders through Oracle and EAM computerized system and place orders for the purchase of goods and services in a timely manner.
  • Organize, update and retain MRO supplier and product information files and purchase order records including afterhours emergency contacts.
  • Review orders for completeness, accuracy and compliance with existing policies and procedures and ensure all purchasing procedures and guidelines are followed.
  • Obtain appropriate MRO items in a timely manner.
  • Interview MRO suppliers and evaluate their products and capabilities as a supplier.
  • Demonstrate a continual effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes and work cooperatively with other departments to provide a quality and seamless operation.
  • Research and follow up on questionable invoices and packing slips when requested. Investigate and resolve any order discrepancies.
  • Establish and maintain parts inventory, including min/max levels, critical spares, and the proper level of security to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Must do quarterly audit of inventory and full inventory once a year.
  • Receive parts in the 7i system.
  • Label parts and inventory them.
  • Manage open past due P.O. and invoices on hold list; as well reconcile purchasing card.
  • Create purchase orders for all plant MRO purchasing and plant capital projects.
Relationships
  • Reports to maintenance manager.
  • Works closely with operation supervision and operation planning.
  • Works closely with maintenance leads and supervisors.
  • Works closely with stores and purchasing personnel.
  • Works closely with assigned outside services supervisors.
  • Works closely with engineering personnel.
  • Works closely with other planner/schedulers.
  • Interfaces with safety and environmental resources for specific concerns.
What you will need:
  • Previous MRO purchasing experience desired.
  • Ability to multitask in different software platforms concurrently.
  • Should have good written and verbal communications skills and have demonstrated the ability to be approachable and tactful.
  • Excellent math skills and computer skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to write and provide simple and accurate instructions.
  • Demonstrated ability to read standard blueprints, machine and process drawings.
  • Knowledge and understands the maintenance processes and proper use of the work order system, planning and scheduling and storeroom processes.
  • Can manage multiple priorities or projects simultaneously and keep them progressing to completion.
  • Must have a reputation which is respected by production, maintenance labor, maintenance management and store personnel.
