Description

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Director of Mobile and School Based Health Services, the MCRN will utilize the nursing process to assess and identify the individual needs of patients through observation of disease symptoms, emotional state, laboratory reports, cultural and socio-economic background and response to medical regimen and treat in accordance with DAP Health policy, procedure, and protocols. The MCRN plays a critical role in the patient experience by optimizing clinic/patient flow and working collaboratively with the mobile health team, clinical staff, and Community Health personnel to assure a patient centered environment.

Job Status: Full time, Hourly, Non-exempt

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Administrative Functions:

  • Establishes, interprets, and disseminates department policies and protocols to ensure uniform delivery of services and promotes quality assurance.
  • Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing team.
  • Works with Director of Mobile and School Base Health Services and other assigned departments to develop procedures in accordance with established standards and policies to the fulfillment of mobile clinic goals.
  • Makes staffing recommendations as necessary to provide adequate coverage for the provision of services to improve quality and workflows.
  • Participates in the recruitment and selection of clinical personnel.
  • Does inventory of clinical supplies and places orders.
  • Coordinates schedule of mobile clinical support staff (e.g. Medical Assistants, Clinical Scribes etc.)
  • Assist in maintaining and monitoring proper documentation of CLIA Waived Lab procedures and quality logs.
  • Assist in maintaining and monitoring proper documentation of Immunizations and quality logs.
  • Coordinates patient flow.
  • Assists with the integration of the program with the clinic services and operations including referrals, special programs, outreach and community education, care coordination, billing and other applicable aspects. Participates in organizational performance improvement applicable to the program.
  • Assists in ensuring all records and supporting documentation are maintained in accordance with policies established by the organization and meeting all contractual and grant requirements.
  • Responsible for continuing education, have current license and CPR Card.
  • Responsible for knowing RN Scope of Practice.
  • Ability to delegate responsibilities and promote teamwork.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Clinical Functions:

  • Monitors quality of care through direct observation, supervises that appropriate logs are kept.
    • Medication Inventory (monthly)
    • Sample medication (monthly)
    • Oxygen Tank Pressure (Daily)
    • Refrigerator temperature (Twice Daily)
    • Immunization Inventory (Weekly)
    • Glucometer (daily)
    • Exam room checklist (twice daily)
    • Lab Inventory and quality logs (daily)
    • Crash Cart log (on every use and monthly)
  • Ensures that supplies are not expired
  • Ensures mobile clinics are properly stocked with necessary clinical and non-clinical supplies as needed, works with Dept. Director to ascertain the mobile clinics are maintained ready to service at all times.
  • Provides quality care to all patients within the scope of practice outlined by county, state and federal law.
  • Delivers care in accordance with established standard of care and accepted community standards.
  • May contact participants or parents in advance of the mobile clinic event to confirm medical history, insurance or other pertinent information when incomplete information is provided.
  • Understands the organizations commitment to provide high quality patient care. Promotes a Patient centered environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervises designated staff including, Medical Assistant, License Vocational Nurse, Clinical Scribe.
  • Provides staff training as necessary and ensures compliance with new employee and annual training requirements.
  • Evaluates staff performance either directly or in collaboration with co-management.
  • Assists in ensuring staff compliance with all company policies and procedures, and all applicable laws and regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Degree in Nursing.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a clinic, physician's office, medical facility, public health department, or similar facility.
  • Active RN licensure in the State of California.
  • Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross accredited BLS certification.
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Proficient in the utilization of the electronic medical record system as it applies to this position.
  • Experience working with homeless and low-income community preferred.
