About the job

At Danone, Manufacturing the best products and supplying them to meet demand is a key driver for our plant teams. We are currently looking to hire a Sanitor based in our Chatsworth, California manufacturing plant! In this role, you will be responsible for conducting production equipment cleaning, chemical handling, building and grounds upkeep. In this role you will support company goals, processes and procedures to ensure highest quality products are produced in a thoroughly clean environment.

The base compensation for this position is $23.00 per hourand is eligible for overtime. This is a unionized role based on site and the work schedule is as follows (subject to availability):

  • First Shift (Days): 2:00 am – 10:00 am (Monday – Friday with occasional Saturday)

  • Second Shift (Afternoon): 1:15 pm – 9:45 pm (Monday – Friday with occasional Saturday)

  • Third Shift (Nights): 9:00 pm – 5:30 am (Monday – Friday with occasional Saturday)

In this role, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Work safely, as well as report and assist in mitigating all safety concerns

  • Comprehend and support plant/corporate protocols and programs, as well as facility systems, including informational/operational/management systems

  • Communicate effectively with other departments, management, and employees including notifying appropriate teams when problems and/or concerns arise

  • Work independently or within a team, with and without supervision

  • Perform industrial sanitation tasks in keeping with a continual audit ready status

  • Ability to assemble and disassemble equipment safely and properly

  • Ability to handle cleaning chemicals safely and properly

  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task to ensure that all job functions are completed thoroughly in a timely manner

  • Facilitate, attend and participate in team meetings and programs

  • Ensure all documentation (written or electronic) is filled out in a clear, legible and accurate format and completed with all required information

  • Anticipate problems/conflicts, problem-solve, and react

  • Monitor, operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair related equipment without assistance

  • Attend and practice all required training

  • Utilize root cause analysis thought process, maintain a proactive approach, and support sustainable solutions

  • Utilizing continuous improvement mindset, actively participate in identifying and correcting opportunities to improve processes including participation in the creation and documentation of Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions, the creation and maintenance of preventative maintenance standards, the writing of One Point Lessons, and participation in continuous improvement methodology events

  • Follow HACCP, Good Manufacturing Practices and 5S methodology to maintain a clean, sanitary and safe work area, maintaining audit ready status at all times

  • Actively participate in Pillar activities (i.e., Quality, Food Safety, Focused Improvement, Safety, etc.) including but not limited to observations, inspections, documentation, and recommendations.

  • Supports plant production needs and priorities to achieve plant goals

  • Assist, train, and coach employees.

  • Comply with all regulations, policies, and procedures (i.e., Safety, Quality, Food Safety)

  • All other duties as assigned or become evident

The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to extreme cold, extreme heat, and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

About you

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 6 – 9 months experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education that would provide the level of knowledge, skill and ability required is acceptable
  • Must have good working knowledge of C.I.P. systems and chemicals used in cleaning
  • Good working knowledge of C.I.P. systems and chemicals used in cleaning
  • Lock/Tag Out License
  • OSHA Forklift license
