Danfoss in Tallahassee, FL is seeking a Technical Support Engineer to join our Magnetic Bearing Commercial Compressors team (Turbocor). This position will work directly with our OEM Engineering and Technical support teams, as well as internal groups in all aspects of support for the Turbocor product line. The TSE will report to the Danfoss Turbocor Technical Support Manager.
This can be a remote position for the candidate.
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Provide high-level after-sales technical support including the diagnosis and repair of the entire range of oil-free Turbocor centrifugal compressors.
* Use electronic log data, compressor operational data, and other compressor and chiller system
symptoms to diagnose compressor/system issues.
* Provide direct feedback and tracking of issues as required to raise the visibility of issues to the
Quality and Reliability departments and other key stakeholders.
* Provide customer support directly to the OEM at their facility or at an end-user site. Must
be capable of using a high level of discretion and tact in verbal and written communication. This
may at times require domestic as well as international travel as the need arises.
* Warranty Administration - Review and process OEM-submitted Incident Reports along with
supporting data for the determination of product warranty status and disposition of material.
* Create clear, concise, and timely reports documenting the findings from field visits or remote
issue investigations.
* Review and author technical documentation as required. This may include service manuals, bulletins, and the Mobile App.
* Provide field input to support various quality and new product development teams.
* Maintain certifications required for the role.
Required Qualifications
* Associate degree in Engineering or a similar technical field
* 8-10 years of commercial HVAC experience in servicing, commissioning, and maintaining
chiller sets in central plant air conditioning systems
* Strong understanding and knowledge of the vapor compression cycle and principles and the use
of centrifugal compressors within chiller systems
* Poses or acquire a valid passport for international travel
Preferred Qualifications
* HVAC Certification from an accredited technical trade school, college, or university.
Job Criteria
* Strong skills in MS Office Suite, with high-level skill in Excel desirable
* Ability to speak effectively with individuals and groups
* The ability to quickly learn and use software programs including but not limited to SalesForce,
* SAP, Smart Team, or any CAD program.
* Ability to read and work with electrical schematics and P&ID diagrams
* Ability to interpret and create a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
* Fundamental knowledge of Modbus control system and applications using Modbus control
* Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations
where only limited standardization exists.
