LEAD ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS ENGINEER JOB DESCRIPTION
DANE Talent Connections, a technology executive search and staffing company, has been asked by one of our clients located in the San Gabriel Valley, to assist them in a search for a Lead Electrical Systems Engineer, as they are growing their engineering center of excellence.

This position is a hybrid position where you will need to go to the office three days a week to work in an advanced robotic lab and two days a week you will be able to work from home. Our client offers excellent benefits. Salary $120,000 - $150,000.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
As a Lead Electrical Systems Engineer, you will serve as the primary point of contact for R&D activities and lead the project engineering team, providing essential technical guidance and direction. You will act as the key technical liaison between external and internal stakeholders, responsible for technical planning, budgets, and project timing. Your role will also encompass assigning tasks to R&D project team members, reporting on the project's technical progress, and overseeing the final release of the Bill of Materials. In this capacity, you will be entrusted with the critical task of driving technical excellence and fostering accountability within the R&D project. Your leadership will be instrumental in ensuring that the project adheres to budget and timing constraints, meets all product requirements, and effectively manages technical risks. Your contributions will play a pivotal role in the project's success and the satisfaction of both customers and stakeholders.
Main Tasks
• R&D Point of Contact - Act as the central link for all R&D activities, providing leadership and technical guidance.
• Project Engineering Team Leadership - Lead and direct the project engineering team, delivering clear technical guidance and support for project success.
- Act as the primary technical contact for external and internal customers, addressing their technical needs and inquiries.
• Technical Planning and Budget Oversight
• Develop and manage technical plans, budgets, and project schedules to ensure project objectives are met within budgetary constraints.
• Task Assignment for R&D Team -
• Allocate tasks and responsibilities to R&D team members, aligning their contributions with project goals and timelines.
• Technical Progress Updates
• Final Bill of Materials Management. Supervise the final release of the Bill of Materials (BOM), guaranteeing it accurately represents the project's technical specifications and requirements.
• Budget and Timing Adherence - Establish and meet budget and timing requirements for the R&D project, ensuring it operates within financial and scheduling boundaries.
• Product Requirement Fulfillment - Ensure that the product meets all requirements, including cost targets, by overseeing the technical aspects of the project.
• Resource Optimization - Identify and efficiently allocate resources only when necessary to optimize project execution. • Technical Risk Mitigation - Implement strategies to identify and address technical challenges, ensuring the project progresses smoothly.
• Defect Resolution (Root Cause Analysis) - Address and resolve technical defects by conducting in-depth root cause analysis, identifying underlying issues, and implementing practical solutions.
• R&D Project Team Advancement - Propel the progress of the R&D project team, ensuring the timely achievement of milestones and objectives.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:
• A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience, with a strong emphasis on project leadership, strategic planning, and technical direction.
• Proven experience in leading engineering projects and teams, including strategic planning, budgeting, and timing to prioritize project objectives.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance and safety standards relevant to the engineering field.
• Proficiency in assigning tasks to project team members and tracking project progress while strategically prioritizing tasks and objectives.
• Familiarity with design tradeoff analysis, optimization techniques, and risk management, and the ability to prioritize based on these factors.
• Previous leadership experience in technical aspects such as design analysis, root cause defect analysis, and system defect tracking.
• Expertise in hardware and software debugging as required by the specific engineering domain.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and serve as the primary technical liaison with stakeholders to ensure strategic alignment.
• Proficiency in conducting Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) to proactively identify and address potential design issues.
• Experience with the V model development process, ensuring that the engineering and testing phases are aligned and executed effectively.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with a track record of identifying and resolving complex technical issues. Familiarity with project documentation and reporting, including compliance matrix, traceability matrix, and technical reports, while prioritizing tasks and timelines.
 Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
• Master's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
• Previous experience in the automotive industry, particularly in an engineering capacity.
• Demonstrated experience working with power electronics systems, including design and implementation.
• A proven track record of successfully leading engineering projects and teams to project completion.
• An in-depth understanding of the V model development process, with a history of effectively implementing this methodology in previous projects.
