Location:
Danbury High School General Statement:
The Dean of Student Support will work to build meaningful relationships with students and families. The Dean will also implement and monitor prescribed interventions to promote individual student success.
Reports to:
The Dean will report to the High School Principal or Designee
Major Responsibilities:
The individual selected for the Dean will confer with the student, family members, teachers, and support staff to develop plans to promote and encourage student success. The following duties may be assigned by the Principal:

• Confer with students, families, teachers, and support staff to identify challenges, set goals, and develop plans to promote improved student outcomes.
• Communicate effectively and frequently with students and stakeholders to review progress and results.
• Monitor daily attendance reports and gradebooks to identify and respond to situations
• Monitor and report on program effectiveness and suggest revisions as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of all student interventions and results.
• Coordinate with school-family liaison.
• Work with school staff and outside agencies, as appropriate, to support individual student needs.
• Assist in the resolution of conflicts with restorative practices.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Current Connecticut Teaching Certificate, with five (5) or more years of experience.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work with at-risk students both in individual and group settings. Demonstrated success working with students with behavioral needs.
• Counseling or social work experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to build upon the strengths and challenges of a multicultural and multi-racial school.
• Spanish-speaking preferred.

Work Year:

• Teachers workday plus one hour per day (Monday-Thursday) for home visits and family meetings.
• 5 days over the summer (paid per diem)

Salary:
The salary for this position is subject to contract provisions in accordance with the current teachers contract, which can be found at www.danbury.k12.ct.us under Human Resources, plus a $4600 stipend.
