PRIMARY ROLE

The role works with internal teams and direct customers to identify and develop turnkey design-build solutions and/or owner direct contracting projects, including scope of work development, cost estimating and proposal support as part of value-add solution.

The Special Projects / Comprehensive Solutions Developer is responsible for Acquisition Support of both Design-Build Turnkey and/or Owner Direct Contracting project work.

A career in the Comprehensive Solutions role demands not only a knowledge of building systems and the systems engineering field, but also requires strong interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills coupled with the will, determination, work ethic and a desire to succeed. This position requires mastery of acquisition, technical aptitude, and project development skills. Knowledge of the project management processes, Building Automation Systems (BAS) and Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) clean technologies is considered a plus.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. *Other duties may be assigned.

TECHNICAL / FINANCIAL SUPPORT OF SALES ACTIVITIES

  • Develop HVAC system solutions using a combination of Trane equipment and controls and other leading HVAC equipment and systems that include project scoping, concept development, engineering analysis, and system validation.
  • Perform site walk-throughs to determine project viability and scope.
  • Coordinate with other staff members responsible for sales and development of project work for the life of the project.
  • Demonstrates an ability to coordinate third party providers.
  • Interview clients to determine wish lists and assess client expectations for the Small Retrofit or Replacement Projects
  • Ability to discuss and forecast multi-year plans and budgets for owners
  • Schedule and lead project development meetings; coordinate project roles and responsibilities; manage documentation of action items for commitment clarity and drive accountability.
  • Determines and prescribes best methods for project fulfillment
  • Work with BAS Developers to write HVAC system level sequence of operations and other system level control requirements.

PROPOSAL WRITING

  • Document clear scope details for each project with inclusions and exclusions.
  • Coordinate the proposal document strategy and tactics with the Account Manager.
  • Leads the development of project costs and supports Account Managers in creating project financials and customer facing proposals.

CLIENT SERVICE

  • Return all client inquiries within 24 hours. Answer client calls and e-mail quickly, thoroughly, and pleasantly.
  • Field communications with clients will require with clients in a friendly, professional, and patient manner.
  • Perform all duties with the goal of building and maintaining long-term client relationships.
  • Immediately address any client s concern. Request the involvement of other Company personnel as required. Notify Team Leader of any major concerns and the action taken to resolve it.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Required - 10 years in retrofit and/or special projects work including estimating, project management, or site supervision.
  • Required - Experience in developing clear scopes of work and division of responsibilities for projects.
  • Required - Experience with customer facing negotiation, communication, and presentation with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Preferred - Degree in Engineering, Technical field, or Business
  • Preferred - Strong background in thermal / fluid, energy and/or controls background strongly preferred.

SPECIAL SKILLS

  • Required- Experience should demonstrate successful project delivery including project drawings and estimates.
  • Required- Strong technical writing skills.
  • Required- Strong systems knowledge of HVAC.
  • Preferred- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Preferred- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of owners, managers, clients, and the general public.
  • Preferred- Familiarity with utility tariffs, utility bill analysis and energy rebate programs.
  • Required- Ability to operate in an Agile team environment and support lean business practices.
  • Required- Flexibility to work outside normal work hours/weekends, as required, including some travel with occasional overnight stays.
  • Required- Ability to read technical drawings of building and systems
  • Required- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to clients and other employees of the organization.
  • Preferred- Ability to comprehend new software systems, tools, and updates.
  • Preferred- Knowledge or experience using AutoCad / Revit / Navisworks or other BIM solutions

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This role does not have any direct reports.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Required- Reliable personal transportation
  • Required- Possession of a valid driver's license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations including, but not limited to:
    • DUI in the previous 5 years
    • Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless / Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.
  • Required- Current automobile insurance providing liability coverage limits of at least $100,000/300,000 Bodily Injury, or $300,000 Combined Single Limit
  • Required- Ability to operate a motor vehicle & drive distances anywhere within the Damuth Trane territory
  • Required- Ability to prove U.S. Employment eligibility without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Preferred- PE or Engineering Certificates
