Dallas Symphony Association Inc is Hiring a Summer Young String Chamber Music Coach (Part-time, Seasonal, Contract) Near Dallas, TX

Description

The Dallas Symphony Orchestra has an opportunity available for a Part-Time Seasonal, Contract Chamber Music Coach for daytime, weeklong summer Young Strings Chamber Music Camp for DFW area string students.

This position is ideal for experienced Music Educators with many years' experience teaching diverse string students in a chamber music setting, and students in an orchestra setting.

Applicants must be experts in their instruments with a passion for teaching and motivating students from 2nd through 12th grade. Candidate has experience in classroom management, and can communicate effectively and professionally with students, chamber camp lead teachers, other camp teachers, and Dallas Symphony Education staff. This position carries great responsibility as it influences and changes lives by promoting the power of music as a vehicle for change in students’ lives. This may be a first experience at music camp for some students and may be the first time the students perform in a chamber ensemble.

The selected Chamber Music Coach is assigned to one chamber ensemble during the five-day camp, where you will teach students and prepare them to perform two chamber music pieces for the closing concert. Students will sometimes be separated by the instrument family for sectional rehearsals, but camp teachers are expected to lead your students in all string instruments in a chamber setting. Chamber Music Coaches may be hired for one camp session (5 days total) or two camp sessions (10 days total).

This contract position pays $50 per hour. Please submit your resume for consideration and list the summer camps and years that you have worked with elementary, middle, and high school students in a chamber music and an orchestra setting. Please list any Texas Music Teacher certifications. References required. No phone calls, please.
