Housekeepers are an amazing part of the Environmental Services department. Together as a team, they are responsible for the cleanliness of the facility and environment, including the resident rooms, fixtures, furniture, floors, equipment and for keeping the facility safe, attractive and in an operative state at all times.
Requirements :
Special Job requirements : Must be able to work on feet approx. 8 hours / day, must be able to work with chemicals, lift 50 pounds.
Work with floor care machines. Must be willing to work weekend days and into the evening. Have great customer service skills.

Floor Care / Janitorial Position :
Position : Floor Care / Janitorial
Department : Environmental Services
Status : Full Time
Salary : $13.00 per hour
Summary :
Floor care / Janitorial personnel are directly responsible for the vacuuming, mopping, stripping, waxing, extraction of facilities floors;
carpeted and non-carpeted. Keeping carpets and floors clean and sanitary at all times in accordance with department and facility standards and practices, as well as performing other duties as assigned such as : Window cleaning, room cleaning, stocking supplies and other janitorial duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and / or ability required.

1. Perform floor care duties including but not exclusive to :
Follow established policies and procedures of the floor care department.
Vacuuming of hallways and common areas.
Mopping of linoleum and vinyl flooring throughout the building
Extracting carpets in all building including residents rooms.
Stripping and waxing floors as assigned.
Working night shifts when assigned.
2. Perform Janitorial duties including but not exclusive to :
Window cleaning
General housekeeping
Stocking supplies
Cleaning equipment
Cleaning and maintaining some exterior areas
Other duties :
Proper use of floor care equipment
Proper use of floor chemicals
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Attend monthly in service training
Attend weekly staff meetings
Obey all safety rules and procedures
Be courteous and polite at all times

Working conditions :
1. Stands, bends, lifts and moves throughout the facility and local community during workday.
2. Must be able to lift and transfer up to fifty pounds.
3. Subject to exposure to infectious waste and disease (HBV and HIV)
4. Must be able to push vacuums, extraction machines, mop buckets throughout facility.
5. Subject to exposure to chemicals. Please read MSDS book for detailed description of chemical use.
6. Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, involved instructions.
7. Must be able to perform duties under stress when confronted with emergency, critical unusual or dangerous situations or when working speed and sustained attention are critical aspects of this job.

8. Generally work in well-lighted, well ventilated rooms and halls protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
9. Work around odors.
10. Work around bio-hazard spills, using all safety precautions.
11. May be subject to exposure to pets such as cats, birds, fish or other animals.
