Dallas Independent School District is Hiring a Title 1 Parent Instructor Near Dallas, TX

Title 1 Parent Instructor -(RTP20240308-051)
Description

BASIC FUNCTIONS:

  • Help identify, recruit and maintain an appropriate caselad of families for the HIPPY Program
  • Meet with assigned HIPPY parents on a weekly basis, by conducting home visits with each family to role play the HIPPY curriculum and revisit families according to need
  • Attend mandatory weekly training of the HIPPY curriculum
  • Assist in the pereparation, provision and clean up of parent group meetings at participating campuses as assigned by program staff and participate in all regular HIPPY activities (i.e. Field trips, celebrations, trainings, etc.)
  • Refer appropriate families in need of information/assistance to the HIPPY Coordinator for evaluation and social services referrals as needed
  • Maintain family files with current and accurate information at all times
  • Enter data into the required databse to comply with District, funders and HIPPY USA requirements
  • Sumbit all required reports and documentation on atimely manner
  • Participate in staff development as deemed necessary by the District, HIPPY USA and AmeriCorps, for the purpose of personal and professional growth
  • Perform other duties as requested by the HIPPY Specialist, Program Director, Early Childhood Executive Director
  • Performs all other tasks and duties as assigned
  • All federally funded incumbents of this position must comply with time and effort reporting requirements through personnel activity reports or periodic certification, as appropriate
  • Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Travel throughout the district is integral to this job. A remote working environment /alternate work arrangement is not an option for campus-based employees/campus-based positions because regular and punctual attendance at the worksite and performing all duties at the worksite are essential job duties for all campus-based personnel.
Selected individuals for Dallas Independent School District positions will be placed according to compensation guidelines. A campus-based employee may not assume a new position for which he/she was selected based upon the posting process until the end of the current semester, unless approved by the chief officer – Human Capital Management.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or USA equivalency, plus one of the following: Associate degree, 48 hours college credit hours, pass an academic assessment
  • Minimum of 3 years experience as a HIPPY Part time Home Instructor preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the community the program serves, including resources available in the geographic area
  • Demonstrated general knowledge child growth/ development and behavior characteristics
  • Demonstrated ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Demonstrated organizational and interpersonal skills required to meet the goals of the position
  • Demonstrated ability to relat to students and paretns in a positive manner
  • Must have own transportation to conduct home visits
  • Be a current or previous parent in the program preferred
  • Minimum of three years of experience as a HIPPY Part time Home Instructor preferred
  • Bilingual (English/ Spanish) preferred
  • Demonstrated flexibility to cope with the challenges of a rapidly changing world
  • Demonstrated willingness to remain current with the latest developments in the profession
