Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity is Hiring an Assistant Store Manager Near Dallas, TX

Job Summary:

Under the guidance of the Store Manager, the Assistant ReStore Manager will learn all aspects of the responsibilities for the daily retail store operations. The Assistant Store manager provides guidance, direction, and development to Store Associates, assists with scheduling hours and serves as a model for team good customer service. Participates in ReStore marketing activities and ensures donors, customers and volunteers have an excellent experience when working with the ReStore. As a member of the management team this position is also responsible for provide helping team achieve sales goals, and adhering to the Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity mission, vision, and values.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recruits, trains, evaluates, and manages ReStore staff.
  • Demonstrates product knowledge and assists customers in sales taking inventory, and performing services for customers.
  • Monitor sales activities to ensure customers receive satisfactory service and quality goods.
  • Assists in developing and managing ReStore policies and procedures.
  • Open and close the ReStore retail store, as needed.
  • Prices and displays products
  • Maintains store and equipment
  • Procures materials needed to operate the ReStore daily.
  • Oversee store display of items and best utilization of the available space and uses for inventory control system to ensure appropriate turnover of aging stock.
  • Coordinate merchandise replenishment and the flow of merchandise from the warehouse to the sales floor.
  • Operates equipment necessary to load or unload trucks, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, dollies, and hand trucks
  • Responsible for scheduling staff and volunteers to meet the operational needs of the store.
  • Responsible for assigning duties to Community Service Volunteers and Partner Family volunteers.
  • Ensures that thorough orientation and safety briefings are conducted
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills Required (Minimum):

  • 1- 2 years of retail sales or warehouse experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous home improvement store management experience is preferred
  • General Marketing/Sales background is preferred in retail store management a plus

Language Skills:

  • Ability to understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate.
  • Ability to communicate routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters.
  • Ability to describe in simple terms aspects of his/her background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of principles of personnel management and ability to plan, direct, and coordinate the work of others
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.
  • Ability to interact with persons of various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds.
  • Ability to listen perceptively and convey awareness.
  • Ability to interact diplomatically with the public in a continuous public contact setting.
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize on projects and day-to-day job demands
  • Ability to maintain level-headedness in the face of resistance and contrary opinions.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

This is a full time position. Hours of operation are Sunday - Monday, 9:00 am - 6:00 pm. The employee’s job activities occur inside and outside of the facility. The employee is not exposed to any adverse environmental conditions. The employee is subject to hazards. This includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, high places, and exposure to chemicals.

Physical Activity & Requirements:

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. Hearing, talking, and vision abilities required by this job include perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, expressing or exchanging ideas be means of the spoken word and close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal. The employee is often required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, grasp, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, push, and pull. The employee will be required to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The employee is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned and/or to make general observations of the facilities or structures.
