The Engineering Sales Manager is a crucial role focused on leading the NY Sales team by executing strategies of account management and sales which promote long-term customer relationships. The manager serves as a member of the leadership team within the office and is responsible for strategic planning, forecasting, management of sales staff and resources that support the sales business. This role is responsible for development and accountability of the sales team through effective sales activity planning, qualifying, pipeline management, backlog management and revenue and profits of the sales team. This sales leader will become an integral part of the HVAC community through focus on partnerships with consulting engineers, owners, and architects. The sales leader will work closely with the regional leadership to ensure company goals and objectives are being considered.

A Day in the Life:

  • Lead a team of sales engineers to promote and specify Daikin Applied, Daikin VRV and Ancillary 3rd Party equipment within the NYC consulting engineering community.
  • Educate and influence NYC Architects and Consultants regarding value that Daikin Applied can bring to assist in producing Green/LEED projects and promote Daikin Applied as an Environmentally Responsible Manufacturer.
  • Leads sales efforts through sales engineers to ensure activities are being maintained around pipeline, backlog and opportunity management through effective use of CRM software.
  • Supports strategies for selling activities through the execution of assigned job captain responsibilities and coaches sales staff in the effective use of skills to ensure highest probability of closure of each strategic opportunity.
  • Schedules, leads and participates in regularly occurring sales meetings with sales leaders where open communication, bidding strategies and tactical theories are utilized to increase the success of the sales team.
  • Partners with the General Manager to establish a five-year business plan including AHRI share growth, market segment focus, product mix expectations, value-based propositions and long-term investment strategies.
  • Determines the product needs of the marketplace and work with Marketing to establish product development plans, and in conjunction with Daikin’s product line, solicit and secure representation of ancillary products that complement our selling efforts.
  • Partners with HR and the Branch Manager to effectively manage performance expectations of all sales personnel in an environment that promotes professional success.
  • Coaches, mentors, and develops sales engineers through an effective performance management and development by creating personnel develop plans for all sales staff to ensure employee self-improvement.
  • Provide market and competitor intelligence through data collection of the sales team as well as continual analysis of territory and account potential.

What you will bring:

Must Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 7 years related experience and/or training, preferably in commercial HVAC service industry.
  • Experience working with engineering consultants developing basis of design.
  • Sales management experience.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

Nice to Have:

  • LEED, environmental, or “green” experience.

The typical annual base salary for this position ranges from $150,000 - $175,000 in New Jersey. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Additionally, this position is eligible for a sales incentive plan.
