The company is currently seeking an experienced IT Business Analyst.

Responsibilities

Position Summary/ Primary Purpose

The IT Business Analyst’s role is to plan, design, develop, and launch efficient business, financial, and operations systems in support of core organizational functions and business processes. This includes gathering and analyzing data in support of business cases, proposed projects, and systems requirements. Strong functional experience with the selected IT systems is required. The Business Analyst is also responsible for generating and compiling reports based on their findings, complete with probable causes and possible solutions to systems issues. This individual reports to an IT Manager or IT Team Lead, and will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help maximize the benefit of IT system investments.

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Meet with decision makers, systems owners, and end users to define business, financial, and operations requirements and systems goals, and identify and resolve systems issues.
  • Lead and participate in design sessions regarding new systems for the purpose of enhancing business processes, operations, and information process flow.
  • Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
  • Collaborate in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new application and enhancements to existing applications.
  • Develop a knowledge of system capabilities and functions of assigned application software. Use this knowledge to recommend optimal solutions to business requirements that best leverages the product
  • Perform cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions.
  • May assist in creation and implementation of test plans that are mapped to documented requirements
  • Write process flows, swim lane diagrams or solution context documents to explain the requirements to stakeholders
  • Build a relationship between business partners and the IT department relative to requirements, solutions and priorities
  • Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems, and other post-implementation support.
  • Review existing business process documentation for applicability and modify as necessary.
  • Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as, meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating resources and meetings in an effective and timely manner, and demonstrate respect for others
  • Conduct research on software and hardware products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts.
  • Provide guidance and/or instruction to peer staff members
  • Ensure company, department and governmental standards are always followed and provide sources and documentation for recurring IT audits
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge

  • Proven experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products. Optionally, candidates with strong functional experience should have experience with increasing levels of responsibility within their given areas (Materials, Distribution, Finance, etc)
  • Strong business process, and data analysis skills
  • Extensive experience with the targeted IT applications
  • Logical and efficient, with keen attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of database query tools.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Strong listening, interpersonal, written, oral communication and presentation skills

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field
  • 0-3 years of experience in business analysis or financial planning and analysis

Demonstrated Physical Abilities

Remain stationary for 50% of the time; move/traverse throughout the office to access file cabinets and office equipment; operate a computer and other productivity machinery; inspect documents; communicate with others through talking/hearing; read/identify/assess forms and correspondence
