SUMMARY:
Daicel Arbor Biosciences is looking for a creative, self-starter molecular biologist who can design, build, and test tools for current and emerging NGS-based technologies. This person will leverage their experience and deep familiarity with sequencing techniques and assays to sophisticatedly and independently research and develop sequencing-based tool. They will design experiments, lead their execution, analysis, and interpretation, and regularly report relevant results in both narrative and graphical forms to peers and supervisors. They will be responsible for tracking their material consumption to ensure budget adherence. They will primarily work independently but may occasionally work with laboratory assistants.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
Three (3) – seven (7) years of commercial biotechnology experience.
Communication of scientific concepts.
Depicting complex datasets with modern graphical tools2GS and 3GS library preparation and sequencing.
Target enrichment of one or more types (hybrid capture, MIPs, multiplex amp).
PCR, qPCR, electrophoresis, and various quantification assays.
At least one of e.g. RNA-seq, spatial, BS-seq, ATAC-seq, single-cell.
Industry-standard bioinformatic analyses.
Linux based operating system.
Scripting in at least one programming language.
DESIREABLE SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
Fundamental understanding of the economics of sequencing and associated tools.
Liquid handling automation.
Demonstrated leadership, mentorship, or training capabilities.
Proven example of an inventive use or modification of existing assays to meet needs.
Lead authorship of publications related to molecular tool development/applications.
Natural curiosity and desire to embrace, learn, and apply emerging technologies as applicable.
