We are currently seeking an energetic, confident, and highly motivated JOB CAPTAIN to join our Education team in our SAN DIEGO, CA office. This professional must be fully competent in all conventional aspects of architecture. They are responsible for specific technical design aspects of an assigned major project, or several small projects, including investigation, evaluation, and recommendation of design solutions that best meets the client's needs through all phases. They will monitor budgets, schedules, and project documentation to the client's satisfaction. They will also assist project teams and other staff members as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provides professional architectural consultation from Design Development through building permit submittal and Construction Administration.
  • Proficient in code; understands different product types and how the code determines how a building will be constructed.
  • Monitors budgets and schedules and maintains project documentation.
  • Independently applies advanced architectural concepts and designs.
  • Submits reports and specifications as requested.
  • Reviews drawings and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards.
  • May provide technical guidance to less experienced staff and can redline others' work.
  • Has client and outside consultant contact.
  • Works under the general guidance of a senior project team member.
  • Project size and complexity determines progression to next levels
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
  • Strong skills and talent in SketchUp modeling, AutoCAD, and Revit/BIM; Adobe Design Suite experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of code and demonstrated awareness of code limitations
  • Must be able to handle multiple concurrent projects and/or deadlines
  • Self-motivated; ability to work independently and in a team environment to coordinate and maintain positive working relationships with other design professionals
  • Willingness to work on a variety of building typologies and architectural styles
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Completion of Bachelor's in Architecture or Master's in Architecture from an NAAB accredited program.
  • 5 years of experience
  • DSA experience preferred
  • Commitment to their own professional growth; preferably to obtaining licensure as an architect
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • This position requires visual acuity and manual dexterity sufficient to sketch and to operate standard computer hardware and software.
  • The employee must be able to regularly sit or stand at a desk and lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
We offer a competitive compensation package based on experience and qualifications. Excellent benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage. We also offer the opportunity to participate in a pre-tax Flexible Spending plan, Employee Stock Ownership Plan, and 401k.
The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $80,000. Placement within this pay range will be determined by factors such as education, qualifications, project complexity and/or experience. The maximum is reserved for candidates who currently meet all job requirements.
