Purpose of Role

Under general supervision of the Head Bowling Coach, this position assists the head coach in developing student athletes academically and athletically for the women's bowling program. Contributes to the educational mission of the University by offering direction and instruction in the area of women's Bowling.

About This Opportunity

Joining our Athletics team, the Assistant Coach - Women's Bowling will be responsible for the following:

  • Recruits student athletes for the women's bowling program.
  • Contributes to the educational mission of the University by offering direction and instruction in the area of women's bowling;
  • Assists with the operations of women' bowling, including but not limited to driving vans and arranging for team meals
  • Provides motivation, counseling and supervision for student athletes.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Student-Athlete Academic Support Services, this position may assist in the monitoring of study hall, day-to-day class attendance, progress reports and maintaining contact with student-athletes regarding academic progress.
  • Instructs methods and strategies and coaches student athletes in the sport.
  • Follows and conforms to NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Faculty and staff are expected to maintain the confidentiality of all confidential and proprietary information (including but not limited to: student personal information, student grades, employee personal information, etc.), both during and after their employment with the University. If a faculty or staff member has a question about the confidentiality of a particular matter, he/she should consult their supervisor. Any violation of this rule shall subject the faculty /staff member to disciplinary action, up to and including immediate termination of employment.   • Performs other duties as assigned by Head Coach for Women's Bowling.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of bowling coaching and teaching techniques and the ability to effectively use them.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays when necessary.
  • Ability to receive telephone calls, respond to inquiries and communicate with others by telephone. Ability to travel when necessary.
  • Knowledge of recruiting techniques and the ability to effectively use them.
  • Proficiency to handle various office machines including but not limited to: computer keyboard, computer software applications, calculator, copy machine and fax.
  • Knowledge of academic eligibility rules.
  • Ability to drive a personal or university vehicle for the purpose of university business.

STATUS: Part time coach, contract for $3,000; weekends required.

General Physical Requirements:

  • Light/Medium Work: Exerting up to 25-50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Working Conditions:

  • Office & athletics facilities/outdoor settings, but some activities/ duties can occur both inside and outside the office setting.
