As we continue to expand our operations, we are seeking a skilled Mid-Level Cable Fiber Installer to join our team and assist the installation and maintenance of fiber optic cable infrastructure.

Job Description:

We are looking for a Mid-Level Cable Fiber Installer to play a key role in the installation and maintenance of fiber optic cable infrastructure for our customers in Norfolk, VA. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in fiber optic installations, splicing fibers, and ensuring that all work meets company standards and customer expectations. This role requires strong technical skills, previous experience in fiber optic installation, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service.

Responsibilities:

Assist in the installation of fiber optic cables for residential and commercial customers, following company standards and specifications.

Work with senior installers to conduct site surveys, assess installation requirements, and determine the best routes and methods for laying fiber optic cables.

Assist in splicing fiber optic cables using fusion splicing and mechanical splicing techniques to connect individual fibers and ensure optimal signal transmission.

Support the installation of fiber optic enclosures, connectors, and terminations, and assist in performing testing using OTDRs, power meters, and other equipment to verify signal strength and quality.

Learn from and work closely with senior cable fiber installers to develop skills and knowledge in fiber optic installation techniques and best practices.

Collaborate with project managers and other team members to ensure timely completion of installations and adherence to project timelines.

Maintain accurate records of installation activities, including documentation of splicing records, test results, and customer information.

Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to fiber optic installations, under the guidance of senior installers or technical support teams.

Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures at all times, promoting a safe working environment for yourself and your team.

Communicate effectively with customers to address questions or concerns and provide exceptional customer service throughout the installation process.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or vocational training is preferred.•

Must have Siemon or Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI certification.

1-3 years of experience in fiber optic installation or a related field.

Specific experience with either 5e, CAT6, CAT 7 cable installation of fiber optic cable multi-mode and single mode.

Strong technical aptitude and mechanical skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers and team members.

Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and accuracy.

Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

Must be able to lift at least 5o pounds

Pay: $21.69 - $22.59 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
