Job Description: A Level Automotive Technician

The A Level Automotive Technician is responsible for efficiently diagnosing and repairing vehicles brought into the automotive service department. They perform routine maintenance and service tasks as well as complex mechanical and electrical repairs. The role requires extensive knowledge of automotive systems, strong problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

1. Diagnose and repair complex automotive issues by conducting thorough inspections and utilizing diagnostic equipment.
2. Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, filter replacements, and fluid checks.
3. Conduct thorough vehicle inspections to identify any existing or potential issues.
4. Efficiently repair or replace faulty components, such as engines, transmissions, brake systems, suspension, heating, and cooling systems, etc.
5. Utilize diagnostic software and equipment to identify and troubleshoot electrical and computer-related automotive problems.
6. Keep detailed and accurate records of all work performed, parts used, and time spent on each repair.
7. Follow manufacturer's specifications and guidelines when performing repairs and maintenance.
8. Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with customers, explaining diagnosis and repair recommendations in a clear and concise manner.
9. Stay up to date with the latest automotive technology, techniques, and equipment through continuous training and education.
10. Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly stored and in good working condition.
11. Follow all safety guidelines and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.

Requirements:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Successful completion of an automotive technology program or apprenticeship.
3. ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification is highly desirable.
4. Proven work experience as an Automotive Technician, preferably in a dealership or repair facility.
5. In-depth knowledge of automotive systems including engines, transmissions, brake systems, electrical systems, etc.
6. Proficient in the use of diagnostic software and tools.
7. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to perform complex repairs efficiently.
8. Ability to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.
9. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with customers and co-workers.
10. Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
11. Valid driver's license.
12. Willingness to continuously learn and attend training programs to stay updated with new technologies and repair techniques.
