D. C. Taylor Co. is looking for a self-driven individual with experience in commercial roofing and safety. The Lead Man is responsible for assisting the project supervisor in leading up to an 8-man crew daily to meet project specifications while keeping safety the highest priority. The Lead Man will be responsible for leading the crew for up to 5 weeks at a time, out of state, in the absence of the Project Supervisor. The Lead Man will perform a range of duties including project management and planning, crew personnel management, and customer service as outlined below.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Management & Planning

• Record work performed daily using daily reports; report crew time accurately using tablet.

• Review requisitions to determine materials needed and work with the shop to make sure all materials get to the job site; discuss and revise delivery schedules when needed.

• In the absence of the project supervisor, attend pre-construction meetings.

• Working alongside the project supervisor and project manager, determine job-specific safety guidelines/procedures keeping in line with D. C. Taylor Co. and customer requirements.

• Perform Job Hazard Analysis.

• Monitor job site inventory, assess short falls, and work with the Project Supervisor or Project Manager, order additional materials in a timely manner.

Crew Personnel Management

• Manage the crew for the installation of a quality roof in a safe and efficient manner, while maintaining job profitability.

• Participate and lead weekly meetings to discuss job site safety, project progress, and schedule.

• Work alongside the Project Supervisor to continually develop, train, and coach crew personnel as they progress through the Crew Development Training Manual.

• Immediately address issues arising in employee performance, discipline and document actions with Project Supervisor and Human Resources as required.

Customer Service

• Maintain good customer relations, acting as a liaison between management and the customer in absence of the project supervisor.

• 4 years of experience in Commercial Roofing required; lead man experience preferred.
• Experience with TPO, PVC, modified bitumen, and EPDM roofing systems and installations required.
• Experience with roof-related sheet metal including gutters, downspouts, gravel stop, drip edge, gable trim, and copings preferred.
• Strong communication, time management, and organization skills required.
• OSHA 30-hour certification; OSHA 10-hour certification; CPR; Competent Person Training preferred.
• Must be computer literate; knowledge of Microsoft applications, CRM, RoofLogic, SharePoint, Internet, and Viewpoint preferred.
