Purpose of Job:

Czinger is seeking an experienced and motivated engineer to support the next generation of industry-leading vehicle structural architecture development. We’re committed to transforming the vehicle structural systems away from traditional body in white to a 3D printing enabled system using new materials and new technologies. To do this, we need a forward-looking and innovative engineer who will help shape the future of automotive. This position is for an experienced CAE Simulation Engineer with significant experience in Frontal and Side Impact Occupant Restraints performance simulations (LS-Dyna3D) and restraints development.

Position Objectives

Responsibilities for this role:

•Build and analyze passive safety CAE FEA in LS-Dyna3D crash models for FMVSS, NCAP, and IIHS typical load cases.

•Experience with industry standard dummy model setup

•Supporting physical crash testing activities thru full vehicle testing, sled testing, trolley testing, or component testing

•Experience with airbags (all types) and seat belt modeling, with component validation.

•Responsible for model correlation to physical test results

•Create, refine and execute component testing, for model validation, and create institutional knowledge.

•Work collaboratively in a team environment within the Structures team and cross-functionally with other disciplines to efficiently design and release structures that are optimized for mass, efficient production and assembly.

•Work cross-functionally to implement cost reduction, methods and product improvements, and support prototype and production build activities. 

Required Experience 

•BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. PhD is a plus.

•7-10 years of experience in passive safety crash analysis using LS-Dyna3D to meet FMVSS, ECE, NCAP and IIHS regulations. 

•Proficient use of Altair Hypermesh, Primer, LS-Pre/Post, or Beta CAE ANSA preprocessor.

•Excellent in post-processing CAE results, including automation of graphs and presentations

•Excellent knowledge of FMVSS (208 & 214), UNECE, NCAP and IIHS regulations.

•Excellent knowledge of Biomechanics, Dummy Kinematic, Injuries limits

•CAD experience is a plus.

•Solid understanding of linear/nonlinear behaviors of advanced materials (composites, adhesives, metals) to achieve lightweight structural solutions and crash performance targets.

•Outstanding comprehension of solid mechanics, crash kinematics, and finite element theories.

•Solid interpersonal skills, motivated self-starter who can managing personal workload and execution to tight schedule.

•Experience interfacing with engineering, testing, and manufacturing groups to understand system designs and the associated constraints.

•Knowledge of overall vehicle systems/sub-systems and requirements is a plus.
