Community Forward SF is Hiring a Lead Mental Health Clinician Near San Francisco, CA

Position: Lead Mental Health Clinician
Program: Mental Health Outpatient Program
Reports To: SVP of Programs
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Union
Pay Rate: $42.50/hour
The Lead Clinician role is a unique blend of therapist/counselor (60%), case manager (20%), and administrator (20%). The ideal candidate for the position has a significant capacity for compassion for others as well as an established practice of self-care practice and healthy boundaries. It is well-suited for someone actively obtaining hours, with extensive experience working within a behavioral health team, and who has the overall ability to lead through example and clinical competency.
The current position is in our Mental Health Outpatient Program (MHOP) and provides service across our agency's various sites and programs. In this role, you will provide mental health, behavioral health, individual and group support to our clients, who are living independently and may be struggling to do so in healthy ways. You will work closely with your teammates, including case managers to coordinate care and property management to ensure housing stability for your clients.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
  • Facilitate Group Supervision weekly.
  • Lead/facilitate weekly Care Coordination meetings with all agency sites.
  • Support the onboarding of new clinicians.
  • Lead and oversee PURQC and Chart Review monthly.
  • Run monthly Avatar reports.
  • Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions.
  • Maintain a client caseload of 15-20 clients; clients who require more developed clinical expertise.
  • Facilitate group therapy on topics including but not limited to methodology that addresses trauma and trauma recovery.
  • Assess clients for diagnoses, complete formal assessments & develop and update client treatment plans.
  • Act as Officer of the Day as assigned; consult with supervisor about case presentation and assignments.
  • Create and facilitate clinical training and present formal case formulations to the team.
  • Submit documentation and notes independently while consulting with supervisors as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and timely client charts.
  • Participate in care coordination and clinical supervision sessions.
  • Assist with new staff orientation.
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures; attend training and meeting attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree plus four (4) years experience in a mental health setting or doctoral degree plus two (2) years of experience in a mental health setting
  • Registration and assigned intern/associate number with either Board of Behavioral Science (BBS) or Board of Psychology (BOP) in the State of California
  • Board Registration in good standing for a minimum of two years.
  • Highly proficient in documentation, utilizing strong clinical language skills
  • Ability to train clinicians in documentation and therapeutic modalities
  • Demonstrated knowledge and familiarity with San Francisco billing databases (i.e. AVATAR)
  • Thorough understanding of the interconnection between complex medical conditions, substance use disorder, and mental health disorders
  • Significant experience with group facilitation and the ability to train clinicians in such
  • Proficiency in MS Office and G-Suite and the ability to work in a networked computer environment
  • CPR and First Aid certification within 90 days of hire
  • 5150/5585 Certification within 90 days of hire
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to express empathy and caring in the context of professional relationships
  • Ability to engage with others in a positive, friendly, energetic and helping manner
  • Experience working with people from various cultures
  • Knowledge of San Francisco neighborhoods and community resources
  • California ADP Certification
  • Knowledge and familiarity with San Francisco billing databases (i.e. AVATAR)
  • Understanding of homelessness, trauma, DV/IPV, HIV/AIDS, substance use disorder and recovery, mental health disorders, neurodiversity, justice-involvement, and systems of oppression
  • Multicultural, multilingual
  • Passion for working with at-risk client populations
  • Lived experience with homelessness and/or systems of oppression
  • Strong self-awareness, cultural humility, and commitment to personal praxis
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with Medi-Cal
